ODAC Football Play of the Week: Week 9 - Bridgewater

Bridgewater made a lot of big plays in its comeback towards a 42-41 win over Guilford on Saturday. One of those was by defensive lineman J.P. Utz, who dropped back into zone coverage and made the most of his opportunity away from the line of scrimmage. He pulled in an errant pass at his own 18-yard line and returned it 64 yards to not only snuff out a potential GC scoring chance, but also flip field position with 9:44 to play.

  • ODAC Football Play of the Week: Week 9 - Catholic

     Catholic trailed Shenandoah, 17-0, at one point in the first half, but a furious comeback saw the Cardinals take a lead into the locker room at half time. The score that put them ahead came with the clock showing 00:00. Justin Paige burst thru the line on a SU field goal attempt. He not only blocked the kick, but he recovered the loose ball and sprinted 77 yards to paydirt for a 10-point swing and a 27-24 advantage at the intermission.

  • ODAC Football Play of the Week: Week 9 - Emory & Henry

     Trailing Hampden-Sydney, 17-14, at halftime, Emory & Henry didn't waste any time in going ahead for good. On their first possession of the second half, Wasps' quarterback Kevin Saxton capped a 7-play 70-yard drive with a perfectly waited 23-yard pass to the back of the end zone and into the hands of Derrick Yates. The touchdown put E&H ahead, 21-17, on the way to a 31-25 win. It also marked the sixth straight game in which Yates has registered a receiving score.

  • ODAC Football Play of the Week: Week 9 - Randolph-Macon

     Randolph-Macon's defense put together a stellar effort in holding down Washington and Lee's potent offense, but the game remained in the balance in the waning moments. Cornerback Jacob Silva helped seal R-MC's victory as he intercepted a pass in the end zone with 1:14 to play to halt the Generals' comeback attempt. R-MC ran out the remaining clock and took control of the league standings with an 18-10 win in Lexington.

  • ODAC Football Play of the Week: Week 9 - Washington and Lee

     Washington and Lee may not have registered an offensive touchdown in its 18-10 setback to Randolph-Macon, but that didn't keep the defense from getting involved. Pressure forced an errant throw from the R-MC signal caller, and Will Dyson proved the beneficiary as he hauled his ODAC-best sixth interception of the season and returned it 72 yards to put W&L within striking distance with 8:59 to play. It marked the third pick-six of year for the Generals' defense.
