 Mike DeMasi| Hampden-Sydney| Jr.| Running Back
DeMasi, a junior from Virginia Beach, Va., had a breakout day for the Tigers in Hampden-Sydney's 37-34 win at Shenandoah. DeMasi accounted for 49-percent of the Tigers' 471 yards of total offense, representing his highest combined rushing and receiving output of the season. He ran for a career-best 187 yards and two touchdowns on 33 carries. He added four receptions for 44 yards, bringing his total offensive output to 231 yards. DeMasi averaged 5.7 yards per carry and was a major reason why H-SC possessed the ball for nearly 41 minutes. For the season, DeMasi is fifth in the ODAC with 698 rushing yards to go with six rushing touchdowns. He has also caught 27 passes for 166 yards.

 Cole Burdette| Randolph-Macon| Sr.| Defensive End
Burdette, a senior from Frederick, Md., helped Randolph-Macon remain in the driver's seat and win for the third straight week via a 31-10 triumph over Guilford. Burdette posted a game-high 11 tackles with eight solo stops. He was a constant force in the Quakers' backfield, finishing with 3.0 tackles for a loss that cost Guilford 16 yards of offense. Two of his TFLs were quarterback sacks accounting for 14 yards of lost yardage. For the season, Burdette has made 42 total tackles. He is third in the league in both tackles for a loss with 14.0 and sacks with 7.5.

BRIDGEWATER held Washington and Lee to a season-low 193 rushing yards and controlled the ball themselves for more than 35 minutes in the Eagles' 30-20 victory. Quarterback Jay Scroggins threw for 200 yards and two touchdowns in possibly his most efficient day of the season as he went 21-of-34 thru the air. Keith Jennings and Rayvon Johnson both caught touchdown passes while combining for 10 catches and 117 yards receiving. Malivai Barker ran for 111 yards on 22 carries, while Alex Galloway ran one in from 20 yards out. Defensively, Chance Morris led Bridgewater with 10 tackles including one for a loss of nine yards. Sonny Romine picked off his second pass of the season.

Bridgewater and Catholic will close out the 2016 season with the 27th meeting between the two squads in Washington, D.C., on Saturday.  The Eagles own a 19-7 advantage in the all-time series, which dates back to the 1950 season.  Catholic claimed the first game in the series via a 32-0 result in 1950.  The Eagles enjoyed a 13-game winning streak before the Cardinals won the 2013 edition.  BC returned to the win column the last two seasons, including a 45-13 triumph in Bridgewater last season. In that contest, Bridgewater quarterbacks thru for 349 yards and four touchdowns, with Matthew Pisarcik firing three TDs passes amongst his 319 yards thru the air. Keith Jennings led all receivers with 163 yards and a touchdown, while Dylan Horne hauled in 98 yards worth of receptions and a touchdown. Kevon White ran for 97 yards and a score on 22 carries. For Catholic, Lucas Morley put the cap on his 100-catch season with 10 grabs for 69 yards. Quarterback T.J. Tutone ran for 51 yards and a scored while tossing a TD pass to Jamie Young. CUA's Dave Zarkoski led all players with 11 tackles.
CATHOLIC twice found itself level with Emory & Henry, but couldn't gather a lead aside from an early 7-0 advantage in the Cardinals 38-27 setback in Emory. In one of the more remarkable moments of the season, each team recorded a 100-yard interception return for a touchdown. Chauncey Wallace posted the last score of the game with his 100-yard scamper to paydirt. He added five tackles to his line. Luke Kern posted a game-high 15 tackles and also intercepted a pass. Anthony Santo made eight stops including a TFL for a loss of 10 yards. He added a forced fumble, which James Mooney recovered. Offensively, quarterbacks Jorge Pola and Alejandro Ross combined for 275 yards thru the air with Pola finding Lucas Morley for a touchdown. Matt McMahon led all receivers with six catches for 65 yards.

EMORY & HENRY made it four conference wins in a row for the first time since the 2000 season with a 38-27 victory over Catholic …  The win marks the fifth straight for the Wasps over the Cardinals and signals CUA’s last game against E&H as a member of the ODAC … Sam Wagner led all rushers with 112 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries while Isaiah Rodgers ran for 88 yards … Dominic Dunnaville had 51 yards on the ground and added 89 through the air on 6-for-12 passing and two scores … Kevin Saxton was 9-for-18 on his passing attempts for 53 yards and a touchdown … Derrick Yates caught four balls for 62 yards and a score, marking his sixth-straight game with a touchdown catch … A.J. Hampton (3 rec., 41 yards) and Chris Gannon (4 rec., 16 yards) also scored touchdowns on the day … Zack Manley led the team with nine tackles while Davon Keith and Kash Jones made six stops each … Keith finished with 3.5 tackles for a loss including two sacks while Jones had a sack for 11 yards … The Wasps picked off Cardinal quarterbacks three times during the game, none more impressive than Tre’von Lightfoot’s 100-yard return for a touchdown in the second quarter … Eric Johnson and Jae Daniels also pulled in telegraphed passes by Catholic … Emory & Henry held a 422-288 advantage in yards of total offense and accumulated 21 first downs in the game … With four takeaways and three turnovers, the Wasps continue to build on their turnover margin in the second half of the season … Over the past four weeks, E&H is +10 in turnover margin … The first five games of the year saw the Wasps at -7 on the turnover battle … In addition to Saturday’s interceptions, Emory & Henry broke up five passes and picked up 15 tackles for a loss, six of which went for sacks.

Emory & Henry and Guilford will be meeting for the 68th time on Saturday, which marks the most played rivalry in Guilford's history.  The Wasps own a 38-29 advantage in the all-time series, which dates back to the 1930 season.  Emory & Henry's series edge includes a 17-8 margin since the Quakers joined the ODAC in 1991.  Guilford has won the past three meetings, including a 41-30 decision in Greensboro last season. Guilford got big days from quarterback Matt Pawlowski, running back De'Eric Bell, and receiver Adam Smith. GUILFORD was held Guilford to one offensive touchdown in Guilford's 31-10 loss to Randolph-Macon, the Quakers' fewest since a 2012 shutout loss to Hampden-Sydney... Hunter Causey saw his string of four-straight 100-yard rushing days snapped, altough he did rack up 96 yards on 17 carries... Erick Fuentes matched his career long with a 42-yard field goal. He also connected on his 40th point-after kick of the year, which ranks third on Guilford's single-season list.... Karsten Mliler's 2,176 passing yards rank 10th on Guilford's single-season list. Defensively, Jared Davis made a career-high nine tackles to share team-high honors with senior Karl Roberts. All nine of Roberts tackles were solo stops... Roberts is one of 20 Guilford seniors with a chance to clinch a share of the best four-year record in school history. The Quakers are 27-12 over the past four seasons. Last year's senior group was 28-12... Jordan Cuthbertson registered Guilford's 27th sack of the season in Saturday's game. The Quakers' 27 sacks rank fifth in school history and are the most by a Guilford team since 1997... Gibson Ziah entered Saturday's game ranked fifth nationally with 1.38 sacks per game. His 11 sacks this year rank fifth in school history and are the most sacks in a season by a Quaker since Rodney Alexander's school record 15 sacks in 1991.

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY returned to the win column, taking a dramatic 37-34 win over Shenandoah in the team’s final road game of the season. The Tiger offense rolled to 471 yards without a turnover and dominated the time of possession, having the ball for nearly 41 minutes to Shenandoah’s 19. The Tigers’ 471 yards of offense came on 263 passing and 208 rushing. Alec Cobb was 24-of-31 for 263 and a touchdown. He also ran for five yards and two touchdowns. Owen Costello and Major Morgan each had 85 yards receiving on a combined 13 catches. Morgan also had a touchdown catch for the second straight week. Mike DeMasi had a monster game of 231 yards of offense, including 187 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 33 carries. Defensively, the Tigers allowed 377 yards of offense on 311 passing and 66 rushing. Kendall Blankenship and Brian Gwaltney each had a team-high eight tackles. Griffin Davis and Bender Vaught each had four stops, while Vaught intercepted a pass and returned it 12 yards. 

NEXT WEEK: vs. Randolph-Macon (8-1, 5-1 ODAC) -- 1:00 p.m.
Hampden-Sydney and Randolph-Macon will square off in the 121st edition of “The Game,” the oldest small school rivalry in the South. This season's edition has title implications for R-MC as a win would lock up the program's 10th conference championship. The Tigers own a 60-49-11 advantage in the series that began in 1893. Randolph-Macon took the first meeting 12-6 in the Tigers’ second year as a program, but Hampden-Sydney returned the favor in 1896 with a 24-0 win – the second-ever victory. Last season, the series returned to its low-scoring origins with Randolph-Macon posting a 14-9 triumph in Ashland. All 23 combined points were scored in the first half, with R-MC getting a touchdown run from Joe McBride and a 31-yard interception return for a touchdown by JJ Hill. H-SC got a field goal from Liam Hedge and a 74-yard TD scamper by Kyree Koonce. R-MC held the ball for 35:14 in grinding out 209 yards of offense. Turnovers didn't help H-SC as they gave the ball away four times. Koonce finished with 145 yards rushing. H-SC's Tyler Martin led all players with 14 tackles. Ryan Jones had two sacks to lead a unit that got to the quarterback six times. Hill registered a pair of interceptions for RMC.
RANDOLPH-MACON trailed 10-0 midway thru the second quarter, but finished the game on a 31-0 run to post a 31-10 win over Guilford and remain in the driver's seat for the ODAC title. A win next week at Hampden-Sydney would lock up the Yellow Jackets' 10th league championship. R-MC's offense produced a relatively balanced day against Guilford, rushing for 189 yards and throwing for 148 yards. Quarterback Burke Estes went 9-for-16 with 126 yards and two touchdowns. He hit Christian Redman and Sean McDonald with scoring throws. Tre Frederick continued his strong season as R-MC's feature back, rushing for 144 yards and touchdown on 35 carries. He now leads the ODAC with 1,262 yards and nine touchdowns via the ground. Eric Hoy added 31 yards and another touchdown rushing against GC. Defensively, Cole Burdette led all players with 11 tackles. He was a constant in GC's backfield, making 3.0 tackles for a loss with 2.0 sacks. Marcus Mitchell made six stops, recovered a fumble and intercepted a pass. Xavier Strothers had 1.5 sacks and forced a fumble.

Hayden Bauserman was strong under center, completing 21-of-40 passes for 311 yards and four touchdowns with just one interception. Justin Ayres caught two scoring throws, while Michael Ashwell and Qlyl Middelijn added one each. Ashwell led all receivers with eight catches for 85 yards. Cedrick Delaney was kept in check with 18 carries for 58 yards, but he did find the end zone via a four-yard rush. Defensively, Micheal Wroble led with 17 tackles including 2.5 for a loss of six yards. Bernie Hayes III added 14 stops, while Malik Sims registered 11 tackles.

NEXT WEEK: at Washington and Lee (5-4, 4-2 ODAC) -- 1:00 p.m.

Washington and Lee and Shenandoah will be meeting for the fifth time, with the Generals holding a 3-1 edge in the all-time series.  Last season in Winchester, both teams went scoreless thru the first quarter, but then W&L exploded for 28 unanswered points up until SU found the end zone with 9:58 to play in the fourth quarter. That kicked off three straight touchdowns for the Hornets, pulling them to within 28-21 with 7:20 to go. W&L stopped the bleeding with a Duncan Maxwell 26-yard TD run with 1:48 on the clock for the game's final score. W&L ran for 455 yards with Marshall Hollerith (110) and Maxwell (101) each cracking the century mark and scoring a pair of touchdowns. Walker Brand added 88 yards. Cedrick Delaney ran for 120 yards on 24 carries for SU. Hayden Bauserman threw for 244 yards and three touchdowns. SU's Cedrick Bridges led all players with 16 tackles.

W&L was held to a season-low 193 rushing yards, while Bridgewater controlled the ball for 35:15 of the game’s 60 minutes. Senior running back Marshall Hollerith rushed for a touchdown in the game, moving his career total to 41 touchdowns, second-most in school history. Junior linebacker Max Garrett posted 13 tackles in the loss to Bridgewater, his seventh game this season with 10 or more stops.  Garrett now has 254 career tackles in just 30 games. W&L completed a season-high eight passes (8-20) against the Eagles for 122 passing yards.
