Corry, a junior from Watkinsville, Ga., continued making impact plays for the Generals defense in Saturday's 40-29 victory over Emory & Henry. Corry came thru with seven tackles featuring a pair of sacks in addition to a forced and recovered fumble. His two sacks resulted in a loss of 16 yards from scrimmage for E&H. Early in the second quarter, Corry strip-sacked the Wasps quarterback, picked up the loose ball, and returned six yards for a touchdown and a 27-0 advantage. Washington and Lee's defense has returned a fumble for a touchdown in each of its past two games after going nearly 12 years without one. Corry has racked up 34 tackles on the season including 6.5 sacks, which is tied for first in the ODAC with Guilford's Jarrod Russ. He is #1 in the conference in tackles for loss (11.5) and yards lost on sacks (-43) and tied for first in force fumbles (2).
Alec Cobb | Hampden-Sydney | Sr. | Quarterback
Cobb, a senior from Jamestown, N.C., put together his second five-plus touchdown day in the last three weeks in the Tigers 42-21 victory at Bridgewater. Cobb threw four touchdown passes and ran in a fifth to offset one interception. He went 28-of-42 passing for 352 yards while completing passes to six different receivers. Cobb posted the game's first touchdown midway thru the first quarter as he dove the pylon following a 14-yard scamper to the end zone. He used his legs on his first TD pass as well, rolling out to his left and throwing against his body to Nick Kallivokas for a 12-yard score with 9:14 on the third quarter clock. Then came three long TD passes as he and Ed Newman connect catch-and-run plays of 37 and 68 yards followed by a 26-yard scoring pass. For the season, Cobb leads the ODAC in completion percentage (66.3%) and yards per game (409.0). He's second in yards (2,045), touchdowns (13), completions (163), attempts (246), and passing efficiency (148.7).

Team News and Notes
BRIDGEWATER dropped a second straight outing over the weekend, a 42-21 decision to Washington and Lee. The Eagles scored on three big plays, each covering more than 40 yards. Matt DeMasi scored on a 46-yard run, while Alex Galloway took his only carry 46 yards for a touchdown. Galloway upped the ante on special teams as he returned a kickoff 100 yards midway thru the third quarter to pull BC to within a touchdown. He finished with 224 all-purpose yards on just five touches. Demetreus Jalepes le the ground game with 51 yards on 16 carries. Defensively, Gary Ramey Jr. and Deshomd Denny led with 10 tackles apiece. Roger White registered a quarterback sack, while Dustin Green intercepted a pass. Davonta Womack forced a fumble.

NEXT WEEK | at Randolph-Macon (5-1, 3-0 ODAC) | 1:00 PM
Bridgewater and Randolph-Macon will meet for the 79th time on Saturday in Ashland, continuing a series that began in 1926. The Yellow Jackets have a strong advantage in the series, winning 59 times against 16 losses with three ties against the Eagles. That includes a 52-24 Randolph-Macon victory in Bridgewater last season. R-MC enters the contest standing atop the ODAC standings with five straight victories. Bridgewater looks to even its record, having dropped each of its past two gams against Washington and Lee (30-20) and Hampden-Sydney (42-21).
   
FERRUM came up just short off its bye week with a 28-27 setback at Guilford where the Quakers benfitted from a pair of block PATs. The Panthers ran for 280 yards, powered by 216 yards and two touchdowns on 36 carries from Brian Mann. Mann also tossed a pass to complete a two-point conversion. He finished with 237 all-purpose yards, adding in 21 yards on his lone kickoff return. He leads the ODAC with 965 yards rushing. Quarterback Zack Clifford threw for 158 yards and two touchdowns, one each to Quentin Wallace and Chris Baker. He also ran for 41 yards on 18 carries. Defensively, Roshun Patterson led the unit with eight tackles including two for a loss and a pass breakup. Rod Smith and Brandon Scott each intercepted a pass, while Smith added a forced fumble.

Ferrum and Washington and Lee will meet for the first time ever on Saturday in Ferrum. The Generals enter having won 4-of-5 contests including each of the past outings at Bridgewater (30-20) and against Emory & Henry (40-29). Ferrum followed up its bye week with a narrow loss, 28-27, at Guilford. The Panthers previously won three straight outings at Apprentice (31-20), against Greensboro (81-0), and at Shenandoah (38-21).
   
HAMPDEN-SYDNEY controlled the ball for 36:20 of clock time and posted 28 second-half points on the way to a 42-21 win at Bridgewater. Alec Cobb tossed four scoring throws against one interception in going 28-of-42 for 352 yards. Ed Newman led all receivers with 123 yards and two touchdowns. Major Morgan had nine grabs for 79 yards and TD, while Nick Kallivokas caught the remaining touchdown pass. Kaleb Smith led the ground game with 25 carries for 59 yards and a touchdown, while Cobb ran one in from 14 yards out to open the game's scoring. Defensively, Brendan Weinberg and Michael Harris led the unit with seven tackles each. Griffin Davis recovered a fumble and intercepted a pass, while Ryan Mallory also notched an interception. John Kline and Brian Gwaltney added a fumble recovery apiece.

Guilford and Hampden-Sydney will be meeting for the 68th time on Saturday in Hampden-Sydney, continuing a series that began in 1920. The Tigers own a 44-23 advantage in previous matchups and have won 17 of the past 18 meetings between the two squads. H-SC is 21-6 against the Quakers since Guilford joined the ODAC in 1991. Last season, Hampden-Sydney scored a 21-6 win in Greensboro. Both teams enter Saturday's game having won thei previous outing. The Tigers won for the second time in three games with a 42-21 result at Bridgewater, while the Quakers snapped a three-game skid to pick up their first ODAC win, 28-27, against Ferrum.
   
SHENANDOAH saw its offense shutout for three quarters in it 45-14 loss to Randolph-Macon in the last of its five consecutive home games. Quarterback Hayden Bauserman threw for 289 yards and two touchdowns on 29-of-56 thru the air. Casey Stewart led all players with nine catches for 113 yards and score. He leads the ODAC with nine TD receptions and is second with 482 receiving yards. Rashadeen Byrd, Jr., caught the remaining scored, a 33-yard effort to cap the game's scoring. Defensively, Bernie Hayes III led the unit with nine stops. Adrian Brisbon and Jahquan Collins registered a pair of TFLs each. Michael Nguyen intercepted a pass, his first of the season.

Emory & Henry and Shenandoah will be meeting for just the seventh time on Saturday in Emory, each of which has come since the Hornets joined the ODAC in 2012. The Wasps own a 4-2 advantage in the previous six meetings, but SU has won each of the past two matchups: 36-33 in 2016 and 47-24 in 2017. Both teams look to return to the win column with this showdown, which also marks the first road game for SU since week one. The Wasps have lost three straight at Hampden-Sydney (56-27), versus Thomas More (41-27), and at Washington and Lee (40-29). Quarterback Hunter Taylor had a productive day in going 24-of-30 for 294 yards and four touchdowns thru the air. Jesse Santiago was his favorite target as he hauled in eight passes for 126 yards and three touchdowns covering 28, 20, and nine yards. Derrick Yates had the other TD catch, finishing with five grabs for 46 yards. Sam Wagner led the ground game with 36 yards on nine carries. Defensively, Tyler Redmond made 13 tackles, all solo, to go with a TFL and an interception. Ivan Phillips also made a stop behind the line.

GUILFORD picked up its first conference win via a 28-27 triumph. The Quakers benefitted from a pair of blocked PATs against Ferrum, including one by Trevon Simmons on the possible game-tying score. Simmons, playing his first game at safety after starting as a linebacker earlier in previous games, added eight tackles with a forced and recovered fumble. Bryce Smith led all ODAC players with 14 tackles, while Jeremiah Hedrick made 13 stops to go with an interception. J.T. Carmichael and Zach Lassiter each had 2.0 sacks, while Jarrod Russ stayed tied atop the league ranks with 1.0 sacks to give him 6.5 on the season. Offensively, running back De'Eric Bell ran for 152 yards and a touchdown on 28 carries. The TD was his school-record 14th of the season. His 207 all-purpose yards to move into 11th place among NCAA Division III leaders. Quarterback Alex Manley completed 9-of-22 passes for 250 yards and two touchdowns. He and Montek Johnson connected on a 65-yard catch-and-run to break a 21-all tie that proved to be the game-deciding score. Jordan Smith had a 62-yard touchdown reception, and Victor Glover added the remaining TD with a 27-yard run.

RANDOLPH-MACON won its fifth straight contest on Saturday, shutting out Shenandoah for three quarters on the way to a 45-14. The Yellow Jackets continued their dominance in controlling the pace of the game as they held the ball for 37:29 of clock time while racking up 486 yards of offense. Six different ball-carriers helped R-MC to 298 yards on the ground. Tre Frederick led with 92 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries, while Jordan Hall posted 87 yards on 15 carries. Quarterback Burke Estes collected 58 yards and two touchdowns on five carries. Tre Frederick finished with 17 carries for 66 yards and a touchdown, while Eric Hoy had six rushes for 50 and another TD. Jordan Foster carried the ball only two times, but both went for touchdowns totalling 11 yards. Estes was 11-of-18 passing for 164 yards. Deandre Gill led the receivers with 37 yards thru the air. Defensively, Yonis Blanco and Ryan Burns registered seven tackles each. Blanco added an interception. Anthony Williams also picked off a pass. Jowan Holder collected 2.0 TFLs, and Victor Robinson forced a fumble that Steve McNair recovered.

WASHINGTON AND LEE improved to 7-2 in its last nine games against Emory & Henry with a 40-29 victory over the Wasps. The Generals jumped out to a 27-0 lead with just over 12 minutes remaining in the first half. After going nearly 12 years without a fumble return for a touchdown, the Generals accomplished the feat for the second straight game. Linebacker Will Corry sacked the quarterback, stripped the ball and returned it six yards for a touchdown. It was W&L’s third consecutive sack on the possession. The Generals racked up four sacks on the day. Corry finished with seven stops including 2.0 quarterback sacks. Fred Benham added 2.0 TFLs including a sack, while Davis Waldrop forced a fumble. Offensively, running back Josh Breece rushed for 163 yards and one touchdown on 23 carries. It was his fourth 100-yard game this season and the 13th of his career. He moved into seventh-place on the school’s all-time rushing list with 2,454 yards in only 16 career games. Collin Sherman and Alex Wertz added a touchdown each. Trey Laughlin thru a 15-yard touchdown pass to Montgomery Owen.
