Drew Campanale, Randolph-Macon, Jr., Quarterback

Campanale, a junior from Shrewsbury, Mass., etched his name in the ODAC and Randolph-Macon record books on Saturday in leading Randolph-Macon to a 44-7 win over Bridgewater College in a contest of unbeaten programs. Campanale became the first quarterback in ODAC history to attempt at least 15 passes and complete all of them. He went 17-of-17 through the air, eclipsing the 16-of-17 showing by former Yellow Jackets signal-caller Burke Estes against Emory & Henry College (W, 52-29) in 2017. Campanale has completed more than 70-percent of his passes in all six games played this season. In addition to his efficiency against Bridgewater, Campanale also accounted for four touchdowns without a turnover. He threw for 256 yards and three scores and ran for 35 yards and his first rushing touchdown of the season on four carries. He opened the game's scoring with a 14-yard slant pass to Joey Hunt with 10:11 on the first quarter clock. Campanale made it 14-0 R-MC on its next possession. On a planned run, he broke a tackle in the backfield and ran around the left side for a 25-yard touchdown run. Campanale's right arm made it 21-7 with under six minutes to go in the first half. He connected with David Wallis in the back-right corner of the end zone for a 16-yard score. Campanale's remaining TD throw covered 30 yards with 9:40 to play. On a 10-yard crossing pattern, Campanale's pass to intended receiver Holden Hodge went off his shoulder pads and went skyward, but Hodge was able to haul in the high-fly and turn the corner for a 20-yard sprint the rest of the way. For the season, Campanale leads the ODAC in completion percentage (78.8%), yards per attempt (10.7), and passing efficiency rating (201.8). He is 82-of-104 overall for 1,114 yards and 11 touchdowns against just one interception. He has also run for 115 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries.
