  • Zack Burnett, Lynchburg, Sr., Guard
    February 20, 2017
    Burnett, a senior from Fairfax, Va., finished off the regular season with a pair of highly efficient 30-point games to lead Lynchburg to two wins and the fourth seed in the upcoming ODAC Tournament. Burnett opened with 33 points on 11-of-16 form the field and 5-of-6 from the line in an 85-71 win at Hampden-Sydney. He nailed six three-pointers and added eight rebounds, three assists, and three steals to his stat line. Burnett continued his tear with 30 points on 10-of-16 shooting in an 84-74 triumph over Randolph-Macon. He was 6-of-6 from the stripe and canned four more three-pointers. He chipped in four rebounds, two assists, and three steals. For the season, Burnett is second in the ODAC in points scored (534) and scoring average (21.4). He leads the conference in three-pointers made (88) and 30-point games (6), and is second in field goals made (181).
  • Connor Schroeder, Lynchburg, So., Forward
    February 13, 2017
    Schroeder, a sophomore from Blacksburg, Va., picks up his second weekly award of the season after leading Lynchburg to a pair of conference victories. Schroeder poured in 29 points on 10-of-12 shooting from the field that included 7-of-8 from beyond the arc in a 95-72 win over Randolph. He chipped in three boards and a steal while hitting both of his foul shots. In a 78-72 win over Randolph-Macon, Schroeder hit three more from deep as part of a 7-for-13 shooting day on the way to 17 points. He added eight rebounds and a steal. For the season, Schroeder is seventh in the ODAC in points scored (342) and scoring average (15.5). He is third in three-pointers made (56), sixth in rebounding (7.3 rpg) and seventh in field goals made (128).
  • Khory Moore, Virginia Wesleyan, Sr., Guard
    February 06, 2017
    Moore, a senior from Arlington, Va., averaged 24.5 points and shot 69.6% from the field in Virginia Wesleyan's 2-0 week. In a 95-69 triumph over Eastern Mennonite, Moore needed just 17 minutes to score 25 points. He was 8-of-11 from the field including 6-of-8 from three-point range. He also made all three of his foul shots and pulled down a pair of rebounds to go with a steal. In an 83-56 win over Roanoke, Moore was 8-of-12 from the field and drilled three more three-pointers on the way to 24 points. He was 5-of-5 from the foul line and grabbed six boards while dishing out three assists and blocking a pair of shots. His lone steal of the game tied him with former VWC guard Thomas Sumpter '07 for the most in program history with 182. For the season, Moore leads the ODAC in points scored (487) and scoring average (24.4). He is also #1 in field goals made (158) and free throws made (106). He is second in three-pointers made (65), third in steals (35), fifth in foul shooting (.855), and seventh in field goal percentage (.515) and three-point shooting (.464).

    Burnett, a senior from Fairfax, Va., shot 61.3-percent from the field in averaging 27.0 points per game and helping Lynchburg to a 1-1 week. He canned five three-pointers and went 9-of-17 from the field on the way to 24 points in a 72-60 setback to Guilford. He added seven rebounds and came away with a steal. In a 97-63 win at Bridgewater, Burnett exploded for 30 points on 10-of-14 from the field. He connected on 6-of-8 from downtown, giving him an 11-of-18 showing from beyond the arc for the week. He also made all four of his free throws and pulled down four rebounds with two assists and two steals against BC. For the season, Burnett is second in the ODAC in points scored (385) and scoring average (20.3). He leads the conference in three-pointers made (61) and is second in field goals made (131).
  • Ryan Fields, Randolph, Jr., Guard
    January 23, 2017
    Fields, a junior from Edgewood, Md., put together a strong week in the WildCats' 1-1 showing as he averaged 25.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists over the two conference contests. Fields opened with 14 points on 6-of-13 shooting with seven rebounds in a 84-72 setback to Roanoke. She added three assists and two blocked shots to his stat line. In game two, Fields helped Randolph rebound for a 90-82 win over Eastern Mennonite with a career-high 36 points, which marked his second 30-point outing of the month. He went 14-of-25 from the field and 7-of-8 from the foul line while adding in nine rebounds including four via the offensive glass. He also dished out three assists. For the season, Fields third in the ODAC in points scored (301) and fourth in scoring average (17.7). He is third in field goals made (109) and fourth in free throws made (69).

    Burnett, a senior from Fairfax, Va., averaged 30.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.5 steals in helping Lynchburg to a 1-1 week. He opened with 24 points thanks in part to four made three-pointers in a 89-87 overtime win at Roanoke. He added four rebounds, three assists, and three steals to his stat line. Burnett then posted a career-best 37 points for his second 30-plus point game of the season in a 92-79 setback at Virginia Wesleyan. He hit five three-pointers and was 14-of-18 from the foul line in addition to posting four rebounds, four assists, and two steals. For the season, Burnett is second in the ODAC in points scored (288), field goals made (97) and three-pointers made (43), and third in scoring average (19.2 ppg).
  • John Caldwell, Roanoke, So., Forward
    January 09, 2017
    Caldwell, a sophomore from Spartanburg, S.C., put together two strong outings in the Maroons 1-1 week against conference competition. Caldwell shot 59.3-percent for the week, beginning with a 7-of-12 showing that included 3-of-7 from deep for 18 points in a 73-57 setback at Guilford. He chipped in seven rebounds and a pair of blocked shots. Caldwell helped the Maroons respond for a 78-74 triumph over Hampden-Sydney with a career-high 32 points and 10 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season. He helped the Maroons recover from a 13-point second-half deficit by shooting 9-of-15 from the field including 6-of-8 from three-point range. He was also 8-of-9 from the foul line and blocked two shots. For the season, Caldwell is second in the ODAC in points scored (242) and scoring average (20.2 ppg). He is second in field goals made (82) and three-pointers made (37) while leading the league in minutes played (34.3 mpg).
  • Clayton Murtha, Washington and Lee, Jr., Forward
    January 02, 2017
    Murtha, a junior from Dallas, Texas, averaged a double-double and crossed the 1,000 career-point plateau on the way to being named the MOP of the W&L Holiday Tournament and leading the Generals to a 3-1 showing over the holiday season. Murtha's run of three straight double-doubles started with 14 points and 10 rebounds in a 66-61 setback to Wesleyan (Conn.). He followed that up with 16 points and 11 boards in a 63-53 victory over King's (Pa.) prior to Christmas. Murtha collected his ODAC-leading fourth double-double in game one of the W&L Holiday Tournament with 29 points and 12 boards in an 85-76 win over Eastern. He went 10-of-13 from the field and added five assists to his stat line. He finished up the tournament with 22 points and eight rebounds in an 85-70 victory over St. Mary's (Md.). For the season, Murtha is eight in the ODAC in scoring average (15.5 ppg) and overall points scored (170). He's third in rebounding average (8.5 rpg) and total rebounds (94) while pulling down the most defensive boards (77).
  • John Caldwell, Roanoke, So., Forward

    Caldwell, a sophomore from Spartanburg, S.C., helped the Maroons to a 1-1 showing at the Swarthmore Holiday Tournament and earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team by averaging 24.0 points and 10.0 rebounds that included his first two double-doubles of the season. Caldwell blistered from the field in both games, but especially show in Roanoke's 89-76 win over Averett. He was 10-of-13 from the field including 5-of-7 from deep on the way to 28 points. He pulled down 10 rebounds and chipped in two assists and and two blocked shots. Caldwell kept up his strong play in the Maroons 96-86 setback to Rowan University. He went 3-of-5 from beyond the arc and 7-of-12 overall towards 20 points with a second 10-rebound outing. He dished out four assists against the Profs. For the season, Caldwell is tied for second in the ODAC in scoring average (18.8) and sixth in overall points scored (150). He's third in three-pointers made (22), fifth in field goals made (53), and seventh in three-point percentage (47.8%).
  • Colin Molden, Emory & Henry, Fr., Guard

    Molden, a freshman from Apex, N.C., continued his strong first season in Emory with a an explosive outing in the Wasps' 127-101 shootout win at Johnson (Tenn.). Molden poured in 28 points on 11-of-18 shooting overall. He buried five of the eight three pointers he took, while adding four assists, four steals, and two rebounds. Molden is currently fifth in the ODAC in scoring (17.1 ppg) and fourth in the league in total points (137). He's second in field goals made (55) and seventh in field goal percentage (54.5). His 14 steals sit third in the conference.
  • Carson Long, Guilford, So., Forward

    Long, a sophomore from Pilot Mountain, N.C., led the Quakers to a pair of conference wins last week to help Guilford to a 5-1 start to the new season. Long opened his week with a career-high 32-point explosion in a 94-88 overtime win over Eastern Mennonite. Long was 15-of-20 from the floor including 2-of-5 from three-point territory on the way to his second 30-point game of the season. He pulled down seven rebounds with five coming via the offensive glass. He added three steals, an assist, and a blocked shot. Long stayed strong in a 69-53 win at Hampden-Sydney, the first victory for the Quakers in the Tigers' home arena since 2009. Long was 6-of-9 from the field including 3-of-6 from deep on the way to 17 points. He chipped in six rebounds an an assist. For the season, Long fourth in the ODAC in scoring (18.7 ppg) and third in total points (112), field goals made (44), and offensive rebounds (20). He has scored in double figures in five straight games.

    Schroeder, a sophomore from Blacksburg, Va., put together a pair of double-double performances in leading Lynchburg to two victories. Schroeder started his week with 19 points and 11 rebounds in a 76-73 win at Ferrum. He was 7-of-12 from the field, adding in two assists. In an 81-63 triumph at Washington and Lee to open ODAC play, Schroeder nailed eight shots from beyond the arc on the way to 26 points to go with 11 more boards. He was 9-of-14 from the field overall, chipping in a blocked shot. The eight makes from distance ties the most made by an ODAC player so far this early season. Schroeder is currently third in the league in scoring at 20.0 points per game and is fourth in rebounding at 9.2 caroms per contest. His 17 made three-pointers lead the conference.
  • Khory Moore, Sr., Guard, Virginia Wesleyan

    Moore, a senior from Arlington, Va., saw an uptick in his scoring in each of three games last week, averaging 29.3 points to help the 16th-ranked Marlins open the season 3-0. Included in Moore's performances was a 48-point explosion in Virginia Wesleyan's 101-94 win over Concordia (Texas) in the final game of the Marlin Tip-Off Tournament. He was 14-of-22 from the field and 14-of-14 from the foul line, adding in a 6-for-10 showing from deep. His 48 points set a new program record, eclipsing the 43 scored by Tom Brett in 1968-69. They are the most points scored by an ODAC player since former Guilford standout Ben Strong went for 59 points in the NCAA postseason in 2007. Moore added seven rebounds and three assists against Concordia. In a 78-62 in over Frostburg St., Moore scored 23 points while adding in nine boards, three assists and two steals. He opened his season with 17 points on 5-of-9 from the field and 7-of-7 from the stripe. He chipped in five boards and three more helpers.
