  • Hornets Upset #1 Trinity in 3rd Round
    November 20, 2010
    Junior midfielder Jordan Clark netted the game winner as the Lynchburg men's soccer team upset top-ranked Trinity University (TX) 2-0 Saturday in the third round of the 2010 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament. LC will face the Ohio Wesleyan on Sunday at 6 p.m. for the right to advance to the final four in San Antonio in two weeks.
  • Werner Among Va. Hall Inductees

    The Virginia Sports Hall of Fame and Museum recentley announced its inductees for the Class of 2010. Former Lynchburg College standout soccer player and Randolph-Macon College veteran coach, Helmut Werner, is amongst the eight honorees. Werner was an All-American at LC and spent 43 years coaching in Ashland.
  • Saluting the Fall Scholar-Athletes

    Eight student-athletes from Old Dominion Athletic Conference member schools to earn a 2009 ODAC/Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete Award during the fall athletic schedule. Farm Bureau Insurance is the proud presenter of each award for the ODAC's 22 sponsored sports.
  • LC's Legg Earns Scholar-Athlete Award

    Lynchburg College men’s soccer standout, Stephen Legg, is one of eight student-athletes from Old Dominion Athletic Conference member schools to earn a 2009 ODAC/Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete Award during the fall athletic schedule. Legg was tabbed from a pool of nominees by a vote of each of the conference’s sports information directors.
  • VWC's Massie Top Player for Third Time

    VWC striker Brandon Massie (above) earned his third straight ODAC Player of the Year accolade. LC mentor Chris Yeager was tabbed as the ODAC Coach of the Year while fellow Hornet Stephen Legg secured the ODAC/Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete Award. H-SC forward Nick DeProspero was named the ODAC Rookie of the Year.
  • ODAC Schools Ready for NCAA Play

    ODAC schools put seven teams in the NCAA Division III postseason tournaments set to begin this week. Lynchburg is joined by Virginia Wesleyan in men's soccer. The Hornets and Marlins accompany Washington and Lee in women's soccer. Lynchburg is the ODAC's lone qualifier in field hockey, and Randolph-Macon takes to the courts in volleyball.
  • Hornets Win ODAC Men's Soccer Title

    Lynchburg scored three times in the second half to come back from a 1-0 first half deficit to defeat Roanoke, 3-1, in Lynchburg on Saturday afternoon. The Hornets earn the ODAC's automatic qualifier into the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament.
  • ODAC Men's Soccer Finals Set

    The ODAC men’s soccer semifinals featured a come-from-behind win, a new ODAC career record and penalty kicks in determining the two teams that will play in the ODAC finals. Lynchburg defeated Hampden-Sydney College, 2-1, in and Roanoke advanced 4-2 on penalty kicks at Virginia Wesleyan.
  • ODAC Men's Soccer Pairings Set

    Virginia Wesleyan College enters the ODAC Men’s Soccer Tournament as the top seed with the chance to host games through the ODAC finals. Hampden-Sydney College earned the second seed while Lynchburg College and Roanoke College round out the top four, sequentially. The top four teams are separated by a total of four points in the standings.
  • RC, VWC Ranked Regionally by NCAA

    The NCAA released its first set of regional rankings for the fall team sports (except football) on Wednesday with the ODAC earning solid representation throughout. In men’s soccer, Roanoke College sits fifth in the South Atlantic Region, followed closely ODAC foe Virginia Wesleyan College as the sixth-ranked squad.

    Only a few weeks remain before the beginning of the ODAC fall championships, and standings are starting to take shape. Randolph College and goalkeeper Aaron Humphreys (above) helped out the WildCats postseason cause with a pair of shutous in a win over Guilford and a scoreless tie with Virginia Wesleyan.

  • Roanoke Picked Atop Men's Soccer Poll

    Roanoke stands atop the 2009 ODAC Men’s Soccer Preseason Poll as the league’s coaches tabbed the Maroons to win their fifth ODAC title in 10 years. Virginia Wesleyan (107 pts.) and Lynchburg (105 pts.) are separated by only two points for second and third, respectively.
