Holmes, a sophomore from Raleigh, N.C., kicked off the season with a bang, winning three individual events and aiding her teammates in one relay to help the Generals to first place among four teams competing at Centre College.  Holmes won a trio of freestyle disciplines, stopping the watches first in the 200-yard, 500-yard and 1,000-yard races with times of 1:57.68, 5:12.26 and 10:43.27, respectively.  Holmes anchored the winning 200-yard freestyle relay team, which posted a time of 1:43.31.

Women's Swimming Honor Roll

Nina Troy, Guilford (So. - Arlington, Va.)
Troy shared team-high honors by winning 18 points at the Converse College Women's Invitational.  She as sixth in the 100-breaststroke (1:21.81) and 11th in the 200-IM (2:54.61).  She and her teammates finished sixth in the 200-free relay (2:00.62) and eighth in the 400-medley relay (5:05.94).

Megan Monahan, Sweet Briar (So. - Cincinnati, Ohio)
Monahan helped the Vixens to third a the Converse College Women's Invitational, competing in seven total events.  She finished second in the 200-backstroke (2:16.52) and third in both the 100-back (1:05.20) and 200-free (2:12.13).  She also participated in four relays, helping SBC to fourth in the 200-free (1:52.95), fifth in the 400-medley (4:41.39), and sixth in the 200-medley (2:04.95) and 400-free (4:19.05).
