  • ODAC Announces All-ODAC Swimming Awards

    ODAC swimmers reset or tied 23 different records over the course of four days during the ODAC Swimming Championships at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. Honoring those performances is the announcement of the 2023 All-ODAC Swimming Awards.
  • W&L Lifts Two ODAC Swimming Trophies for the Second Straight Season

    Two trophies, 12 overall and/or championship records, and 14 NCAA "B" cut qualifying times greeted ODAC swimming fans over the past four days in the Greensboro Aquatic Center at the 2023 ODAC Swimming Championships. Washington and Lee University took up position in its very familiar perch atop the winners platform after claiming both team titles for the second straight year. The Generals boast ODAC records of 32 women's trophies and eight men's prizes with its mantle also increasing by three individual honors. Brynn Martinson took home her second straight ODAC Women's Swimmer of the Meet award, while head coach Kami Gardner collected ODAC Women's Coach of the Year laurels. Generals' first-year Dalton Jobe earned ODAC Rookie of the Meet distinction. University of Lynchburg, runner-up in the men's points standings and third in the women's table, garnered three special individual honors. Colton Schnars received ODAC Men's Swimmer of the Meet honors, while Lindsey Hair and Matt Fields were named the ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Women's and Men's Swimming Scholar-Athletes of the Year, respectively.
  • ODAC Swimming Returns to the Greensboro Aquatic Center for the 2023 Championships

    ODAC swimming returns to its home away from home at the Greensboro Aquatic Center over the next four days as the conference kicks off its winter series of postseason events with the ODAC Swimming Championships. Seven sessions of swimming await the leagues water-driven student-athletes, albeit a day earlier than in previous years. ODAC teams will compete in the 800-yard freestyle relay on Wednesday evening to kick off the Championships on Wednesday evening, February 8, at 7:30 p.m. ET. Thursday and Friday, February 9-10, feature multiple events with preliminary disciplines in the morning starting at 10:00 a.m. ET each day followed by finals of those same events at 6:00 p.m. ET. On Friday, February 11, prelims for that day's events still start at 10:00 a.m. ET, but the finals move up an hour to 5:00 p.m. ET.

    The final report for ODAC swimming highlights Week 22 action as the conference's pool stars prepare for next week's ODAC Championships at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. Wrestling is also on tap for its final dual matches over the next several days with its first championship since 1980 less than two weeks away. ODAC basketball teams continue to post impressive results and position themselves both for ODAC Tournament seedings and possible NCAA at-large contention. Those earning ODAC Athlete of the Week awards for Monday, January 30, include (pictured left-right): Catherine Kagey from Randolph-Macon women's basketball, Dalton Jobe from Washington and Lee men's swimming, Davidson Hubbard from Hampden-Sydney basketball, Mac Cafurello and Mahlic Sallah from Roanoke wrestling, and Savy Burroughs from Lynchburg women's swimming.

    Week 21 of the 2022-23 season means we are just over two weeks away from our first winter championships with swimming and wrestling gearing up for their postseason events. Those earning ODAC Athlete of the Week awards for Monday, January 23, include (pictured left-right): Anna Giannopoulou from Guilford women's basketball, Matt Fritz from Washington and Lee men's swimming, Miles Mallory from Randolph-Macon men's basketball, Emily Fritz from R-MC women's swimming, and Cameron Blizzard and Ryan Luth from W&L wrestling.

    All winter sports were active as the ODAC season reached week 20 for the 2022-23 academic calendar. League basketball teams will largely compete in conference play from here on out, while swimming, track & field, and wrestling squads begin their preparations with ODAC championship events drawing ever-closer.   • Previewing the 2022-2 ODAC Swimming Season

    The next stage of the 2022-23 athletic season begins in earnest this weekend with the majority of ODAC schools kicking off their men's and women's swimming seasons. The year official started last weekend with the Guilford Invitational at the Greensboro Aquatic Center, which will serve as both the host venue for the ODAC Championships in February and the Division III Swimming & Diving Championships in March. The ODAC Relays are on tap with most conference teams heading to Lexington and the W&L Natatorium on Washington and Lee's campus on Saturday.
