Bateman, a first-year from Fredericksburg, Va., earns his third ODAC weekly award of the season after helping Washington and Lee start off the 2022 calendar year with a 142-119 victory at Gettysburg. Bateman won twice individually and joined one relay winning effort. He earned first prize in the 50-yard freestyle in 0:21.49, which is the second fastest time in the ODAC only to his own previous season-best mark of 0:21.31. Bateman also won the 100-yard butterfly in 0:52.73 and placed fourth in the 100-yard freestyle in 0:49.26. He swam lead-off in the Generals winning 200-yard freestyle relay team, joining Jackson Flower, Todd Echols, and Will Hughes in posting a time of 1:26.44.
