2010 Women's Soccer Players of the Week

  • BRITTANY KLIPPSTEIN, Lynchburg College, Junior, Midfielder

    Klippstein, a junior from Springfield, Va., tied a school-record with five goals on Saturday afternoon as the top-seeded Lynchburg College women's soccer team defeated #8 Guilford College, 9-0, in the first round of the ODAC Tournament. She also added a score earlier in the week in a 3-0 win at Eastern Mennonite. Klippstein is currently second in the ODAC in goals scored (14) and third in points (29).

    Yoder, a freshman from Plain City, Ohio, scored three goals in a pair of important victories for Eastern Mennonite. For the week, she finished with three goals and one assist. In Tuesday’s 6-0 win over the WildCats, Yoder scored the game’s first goal just 8:34 into play. She made it 3-0 with another score just 4:35 into the second half and later added an assist. In Saturday’s match with Guilford, Yoder provided the game’s only score with 7:42 remaining on the clock, which helped secure the Royals' entry into the upcoming ODAC tournament. Yoder has now scored in EMU’s last three games and she is third on the team with six goals and 13 points.

    Waters, freshman from Pasadena, Md., scored a goal in each game this past week to help the Eagles pick up a pair of conference wins. Waters scored the first goal in a 3-1 victory over rival EMU. She also scored a goal in a 2-0 victory over Guilford. For the season, Waters leads the Eagles in points (18) and goals (8). Her point total is fifth in the ODAC while her goals scored sit in a tied for third.
  • BETSY KWIATKOWSKI, Lynchburg College, Senior, Forward

    Kwiatkowski, a senior from Mount Jackson, Va., earns her second weekly honor of the season. Kwiatkowski led the Hornets to a 2-0 week in conference play. She scored the game’s only goal Friday against Washington & Lee in an important conference victory on Senior Night. Kwiatkowski scored two goals, including the game's opening tally, on Wednesday in a 5-0 win over Guilford in Greensboro.
  • KRISTEN MELCHIORI, Lynchburg College, Sophomore, Forward

    Melchiori, a sophomore from Chantilly, Va., set the Lynchburg College school record for goals in a match Saturday. She netted five goals on just eight shots in a 10-0 win against Hollins University. She also scored earlier in the week in a 2-0 win at Meredith. Melchiori is currently tied for second in the ODAC in all three scoring categories with 16 points, six goals and four assists.
  • BETSY KWIATKOWSKI, Lynchburg College, Senior, Forward

    Kwiatkowski, a senior from Mount Jackson, Va., helped spur the Hornets to a pair of victories with a six point week. She notched the first goal in a 2-0 triumph over Bridgewater College. She went on to add four assists in the first 17:08 of a 7-1 win over Emory & Henry College. For the season, the three-time All-ODAC First Team forward has racked up an ODAC-best eight assists towards 12 total points --- currently third in the ODAC.
  • CHRISTINA FERNANDES, Virginia Wesleyan College, Sophomore, Forward

    Fernandes, a sophomore from Tinton Falls, N.J., helped spark the Marlins to a 2-0 week. She scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Salisbury University, knocking the ball in in the 52nd minute. She also came through with an assist in the Marlins’ 3-1 victory several days later over Eastern Mennonite University. She was the only Marlin to score in both games. VWC is now 3-2-1 overall and 1-0 in the ODAC. Fernandes tops VWC’s balanced scoring with six points (2g, 2a).
  • MARIELLE RANDO, Randolph College, Freshman, Midfielder

    Rando, a freshman from Powhatan, Va., helped lead her squad to a 3-0 week as the WildCats knocked off Mary Baldwin, Trinity and Gallaudet last week. Rando started the three-game set with a goal and assist against the Squirrels, following that up with a hat-trick against Trinity. Sunday, she finished off the week with two goals in a 4-3 win over the Bison of GU. On the season, she now has seven goals and two assists.
  • SIERRA PALMIERI, Sweet Briar College, Junior, Forward

    Palmieri, a junior from Fort Collins, Colo., had an eight-point showing in the Vixens 2-1 week to start the season. Palmieri had a hand in five of SBC's seven goals in a 7-0 win over Peace. She scored twice and assisted on three others. She followed that up with her fourth assist of the week on the overtime game-winner in a 1-0 win against tournament host Bryn Mawr.
