ODAC Athletes of the Week | Baseball, Football, Lacrosse, Softball, Tennis

FOREST, Va. --- Week nine of the ODAC season featured some stellar performances from conference. Most schools are now in action in all sports, leaving no shortage of competition at league venues. Those earning ODAC Athlete of the Week awards include (pictured from top and left): Allie Schwab from Washington and Lee women's lacrosse, JD Spotts from Randolph-Macon men's lacrosse, Shawn Harris from Bridgewater football, Hunter Taylor from Emory & Henry football, Jessica Goldyn from Virginia Wesleyan softball, Kinston Carson from Lynchburg baseball, Emily Campbell from Eastern Mennonite softball, Hunter Mohr from BC baseball, Valerie Marshall from W&L women's tennis, and Keith Orr from Shenandoah men's tennis.

Below are entries for all 10 winners from today's multi-sport release. Stay tuned for track & field, soccer, and the first field hockey awards on Tuesday followed by golf honors on Wednesday.

SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Emily Campbell | Eastern Mennonite | Jr. | Pitcher
Campbell, a junior from Broadway, Va., allowed just one hit and no runs in 11.1 combined innings of work as Eastern Mennonite kicked off its season with a doubleheader split at Southern Virginia University. In game one, Campbell tossed the first seven-inning no-hitter by a Royals' pitcher in more than a decade on the way to a 3-0 victory. She walked one batter and fanned a career-best 11 batters. Campbell returned to the circle with a scoreless relief appearance to close game two, a 5-1 SVU victory. She gave up hit and walked one while striking out four more Knights in 4.1 innings of work.

BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Hunter Mohr | Bridgewater | Jr | Starting Pitcher
Mohr, a junior from Appomattox, Va., put together a career-best outing -- his first of the season -- in Bridgewater's 11-0 victory over Emory & Henry. Mohr threw 7.0 scoreless innings, giving up just one hit and walking one while striking out a career-best 10 batters. After the first batter of the game reached via an error, Mohr set down eight straight Wasps. He had another run of seven straight outs midway thru his start and retired each f the final five batters he faced.

SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jessica Goldyn | Virginia Wesleyan | Sr. | Catcher
Goldyn, a senior from Buffalo, N.Y., picks up her second weekly award of the season after hitting safely in all four games to lead nationally third-ranked Virginia Wesleyan to a 3-0-1* week. Goldyn, who has hit safely in 14-of-15 games played including each of the past 10 outings, slashed at .667/.765/1.083 over three games last week. She went 2-for-5 with three walks, three runs scored, and four stolen bases in a win (5-1) and a tie (5-5) with nationally 22nd-ranked Randolph-Macon. Goldyn turned up the production in a sweep (13-4, 10-3) on the road at Shenandoah. She combined to go 6-for-7 with two walks, a double, two triples, six RBI, three runs scored, and four stolen bases. That included a 4-for-5 showing in game two with a double, triple and four RBI. For the season, Goldyn leads the ODAC in runs on-base percentage (.667), (20), hits (24), triples (5), RBI (18), total bases (43), walks (15), and stolen bases (23). She is second in doubles (6) and slugging (1.000) and third in batting (.558). * Game two vs. R-MC was called in the 8th inning due to darkness; the game is considered complete

BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kinston Carson | Lynchburg | Gr. | Outfielder/Pitcher
Carson, a graduate student from Tappahannock, Va., smacked two hits in all four Lynchburg games last week, helping the Hornets to a 3-1 showing with a .533/.650/.933 slash line. Carson doubled in each contest to finish with four two-baggers, a triple, six RBI, seven runs scored, four walks, and two stolen bases. He started the week going 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI, two runs scored, and a stolen base in a 17-2 win over William Peace. He again went 2-for-4 with a double and triple, two walks, two runs scored, a stolen base, and a RBI in a 9-4 victory at Averett. In a split (13-3, 1-2) at Roanoke, Carson went a combined 4-for-7 with two walks, two doubles, three RBI, and three runs scored. Carson also threw 3.2 innings in game one against the Maroons, giving up one run on three hits with three walks and three strikeouts. For the season, Carson is hitting .289 with a .370 OBP and .447 SLG. He leads the ODAC in doubles (4) and is second in RBI (11).

FOOTBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Shawn Harris | Bridgewater | So. | Defensive Back
Harris, a sophomore from Washington, D.C., was all over the field for Bridgewater as the Eagles leveled their ODAC record at 1-1 with a 26-16 win on the road at Ferrum. Harris collected a game-high 14 tackles on eight solo stops and six assisted tackles. He registered 3.0 tackles for a loss that set the Panthers back 15 yards. On one of his TFLs in the second quarter, Harris stripped and recovered the fumble he caused from Ferrum's running back. He also batted down a pass. For the season, Harris has account for 17 tackles including 11 solo stops.

FOOTBALL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Hunter Taylor | Emory & Henry | Sr. | Quarterback
Taylor, a senior from Summerville, S.C., put together a three touchdown day as he helped lead Emory & Henry to a 47-6 victory over Guilford in the Wasps' last ODAC regular season game of the season. Taylor, led E&H to scores on five of their first six possessions in the first half and six straight when combined with the first drive of the second half. Taylor threw for 246 yards and two touchdowns on 11-of-17 (64.7%) passing. That included a 23-yard pass to the back of the end zone where Gunner Griffith sprawled out to haul it in and a 70-yard catch-and-run by Elijah Rice. Taylor also charged in from one-yard out as part of a 36-yard rushing day. For the season, Taylor has thrown for 557 yards and four touchdowns against one interception. He has rushed for 54 yards and a score.

WOMEN'S LACROSSE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Allie Schwab | Washington and Lee | So. | Attack
Schwab, a sophomore from Bryn Mawr, Pa., put together a 14-point week as the nationally fourth-ranked Generals opened the season with a pair of victories. In a 23-2 road win at Ferrum, Schwab scored three times on just three shots and dished out three assists. She added two caused turnovers and a draw control. She followed that performance with a career-high eight points powered by a new personal-best five goals and three assists in a 16-12 road triumph at Christopher Newport University. She chipped in a ground ball and a caused turnover.

MEN'S LACROSSE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JD Spotts | Randolph-Macon | Fr. | Face-Off Specialist
Spotts, a freshman from Richmond, Va., played a big part in Randolph-Macon's first two wins of the season last week as he won 66.7-percent (34-of-51) of his face-offs in the two victories. Spotts was 16-of-26 with a game-high seven ground balls in a 12-10 non-conference win over St. Mary's (Md.). He turned up the production in the second game of the week, winning 18-of-25 face-offs in a 22-4 ODAC victory at Ferrum. He picked up a game-best 10 ground balls. For the season, Spotts is third in the ODAC in face-offs won (45) and ground balls (22).

WOMEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Valerie Marshall | Washington and Lee | Sr. | #1/2 Singles | #1/3 Doubles
Marshall, a senior from Arlington, Va., helped the Generals get their season started off on the right off by going 4-0 during a pair of Washington and Lee team victories. In a 9-0 victory over Roanoke, Marshall joined Gabi Moss for an 8-0 win over Lucy Collins and Halle Fernstrum at #1 doubles. She then won 6-0, 6-0, over Collins in #1 singles play. In a 9-0 triumph over Emory & Henry, Marshall and Claire Lacksen partnered for an 8-1 win over Cailie Pollard and Sarah Marion at #3 doubles. Marshall then defeated Tess Flanigan, 6-1, 6-1, at #2 singles.

MEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Keith Orr | Shenandoah | Fy. | #1 Singles | #1 Doubles
Orr, a first-year from Chantilly, Va., helped the Hornets to pair of team victories last week to get Shenandoah's season started at 2-0. In a 5-4 win over St. Mary's (Md.), Orr joined Vitali Rivera for an 8-1 win at #1 doubles. He then defeated Stephan Alam, 6-2, 6-4, at #1 singles. In another close 5-4 win, this time over Shepherd University, Orr and Rivera earned an 8-2 win at #1 doubles. Orr then took down Evan Dokken, 6-3, 6-4, at #1 singles to account for his fourth team-point of the week.
