Ellis, a senior from Abingdon, Va., helped the Wasps recover
from a 14-0 first-half deficit to return to the win column with a
15-14 victory over Catholic. Ellis spearheaded a defensive
unit that gave up a pair of touchdowns in the first 30 minutes, but
pitched a shutout in the second half. He made 10 tackles on
the day, including 1.5 for a loss. In the second quarter, he
helped setup the first of three field goals by Matt Turchin as he
recovered a muffed punt deep in Catholic territory. His
biggest play came with E&H trailing 14-12 with less than four
minutes to play. Ellis intercepted his first pass of the
season to return possession to the Wasps and set up the
game-winning drive, which concluded in a field goal with 10-seconds
to play. For the year, Ellis is sixth in the ODAC with 62
tackles.
