
Markland, a junior from Stephens City, Va., put together a big
day from the interior of the Tigers' defense in the
Hampden-Sydney's 52-0 win over previously ODAC-unbeaten Guilford.
H-SC's nose tackle made four stops on the day, including
three tackles for a loss that cost Guilford 17 yards of offense.
Included in those TFLs were 2.5 sacks for a loss of 15 yards.
Hampden-Sydney notched a season-high seven sacks on the day.
Markland also got involved in the turnover game as he covered
a fumble in the second quarter that led to a touchdown to put H-SC
ahead, 21-0. As a unit, the Tigers' defense held Guilford to
118 yards of total offense. Markland now has 26 total tackles
on the season, with the 2.5 sacks marking his of the season.
