  • Wasps Tab Thompson as Next Men's Basketball Head Coach

    Ben Thompson was formally introduced as head men's basketball coach at Emory & Henry College by Director of Athletics Anne Crutchfield at a press conference on Bob Johnson Court inside the King Center Monday afternoon.
  • V University and ODAC Basketball Partnership Remains Strong in Second Year

    Prior to the 2018-19 Division III basketball seasons, the Old Dominion Athletic Conference announced a continued partnership with V University virtual campus for supporting cancer research.  Following a successful first year of participation, the ODAC men’s and women’s basketball programs built upon the momentum from 2017-18 by conducting events in conjunction with select home games to benefit the V Foundation for Cancer Research and the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, as well as a few other subsidiaries and causes. Through those events, conference schools generated more than $6,900 of charitable donations in addition to programming efforts to support both organizations.
  • Hampden-Sydney Tabs Kimbrough as Basketball Head Coach

    Hampden-Sydney College Director of Athletics Chad Eisele has announced the appointment of Caleb Kimbrough as the College's new men's basketball head coach. The head coach at Huntingdon (Ala.) College since the 2016-17 season, Kimbrough becomes the 19th head coach in the 109-year history of the storied Hampden-Sydney program. The Chapel Hill, North Carolina native is no stranger to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC), having played four years at Guilford (N.C.) College and coached six years with the Quakers and one year at Washington and Lee University

    Senior Darryl Williams (Columbia, Md./Glenelg Country) scored a career high 23 points and recorded his second double-double with 10 rebounds as the fifth-ranked Randolph-Macon men's basketball team was nipped 58-57 by No. 6 Swarthmore on Friday evening in the sectional semifinals of the 2019 NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Tournament.
  • Quakers Rally Past St. Thomas to NCAA Sectional Final

    Junior Kyler Gregory matched his career high with 25 points in Guilford College's 80-73 victory over the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) in a third-round NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament game Friday. Gregory scored 17 in the second half to help the Quakers (24-7) overcome a nine-point halftime deficit.

    Sophomore Buzz Anthony (Arnold, Md./Archbishop Spalding) led all players with 21 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists as the Randolph-Macon men's basketball team outscored York (Pa.) 78-60 on Saturday evening in the second round of the 2019 NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Tournament.
  • Career Highs for Bays, Willliams Lead R-MC to NCAA First Round Win

    Senior Darryl Williams (Columbia, Md./Glenelg Country) scored a career-high 22 and junior Corey Bays (Bel Air, Md./CM Wright) matched his career-best with 24 points as the Randolph-Macon men's basketball team defeated Morrisville State, 95-70, on Friday evening in the first round of the 2019 NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Tournament.

    Marcus Curry led five Quakers in double-figure scoring in Guilford College's 97-50 win over the University of the South (Sewanee) in Friday's first round of the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Tournament.
  • Guilford Joined by Randolph-Macon in NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament

    For the first time since 2015, multiple squads will represent the ODAC in the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Tournament, as announced on www.ncaa.com on Monday afternoon. Guilford College and Randolph-Macon College enter the field of 64 and both will host first and second round action this coming weekend.

  • R-MC's Anthony and Merkel Headline All-ODAC Men's Basketball Awards

    Randolph-Macon College point guard Buzz Anthony and mentor Josh Merkel headline the 2019 All-ODAC Men's Basketball awards, as announced by the ODAC on Thursday afternoon. Anthony was selected as the Kurte Axe Memorial Player of the Year, while Merkel was tabbed the Bob Johnson Coach of the Year for a second straight season. Washington and Lee University forward Curtis Mitchell is the first recipient of the ODAC Defensive Player of the Year award. Shenandoah University guard Jaylen Williams picked up ODAC Rookie of the Year laurels. R-MC forward Jon Nowell earned ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete recognition from the league's sports information directors.

  • Randolph-Macon Tops ODAC Men's Basketball Tournament Field

    For the second time in as many seasons, Randolph-Macon College tops the field heading into the upcoming ODAC Men's Basketball Tournament. The Yellow Jackets, ranked fifth in the country by D3hoops.com and #1 in the NCAA South Region rankings, went 15-1 thru their league slate and are riding a 10-game winning streak. Guilford College stands as the #2 seed after posting a 12-4 conference record.

  • Palombo's 400th Men's Basketball Win Highlights Night of Milestones for Guilford

    Two Guilford College individual milestones were reached on Saturday afternoon in the Quakers men's basketball win over visiting Bridgewater College, 78-55. Head coach Tom Palombo highlighted the result with his 400th career men's basketball victory and his 300th triumph holding the Quakers' reins. Senior forward Marcus Curry added to the effort by eclipsing 1,000 points for his career.

    Competition is always a bit sporadic during the holiday season with student-athletes taking the opportunity to spend time with family and friends. ODAC teams have still been busy over the past two weeks with 23 of the 26 total men's and women's basketball squads competing in 46 overall games since December 17. Those earning ODAC "weekly" honors covering the past 14 days of competition are Roy McMillan from Washington and Lee men's basketball and Taylor Blevins from Emory & Henry women's basketball.

    Finals week and preparation for holiday breaks left ODAC fans with just a handful of men's and women's basketball games to enjoy. The games that were played saw ODAC teams win 14-of-18 non-conference games between the two sports. This week's ODAC Players of the Week are Sammy Thomas from Eastern Mennonite men's basketball and Briana Moore from Bridgewater women's basketball.
