  • Grant Tabbed Eagles First Men's Lax Coach
    June 23, 2011
    William "Mic" Grant is Bridgewater College's first head coach for men's lacrosse, following a Thursday announcement by college president George Cornelius and director of athletics Curt Kendall. Grant comes to Bridgewater after a excellent stint as the head coach of the Marywood University Pacers. Click for a full story as well as video of the press conference.
  • USILA Honors a Dozen ODAC Players

    The USILA announced the 2011 NCAA Division III All-American teams, and 12 ODAC student-athletes earned recognition. Lynchburg College and Roanoke College placed four apiece amongst the second, third and honorable mention lists. Hampden-Sydney College boasts three award winners, while Washington and Lee University garners the final honor.
  • SU Tops RC, 16-7, in Men's Lacrosse

    Top-ranked Salisbury University scored four goals in the first period and never looked back as the Seagulls defeated Roanoke College, 16-7, in the NCAA Division III Semifinals at Sea Gull Stadium Sunday afternoon. In a rematch of the 2010 title game, Salisbury moves on to face Tufts for the 2011 title at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore.
  • Roanoke Tops Stevenson in Final Seconds

    The Roanoke College men's lacrosse team extended its winning streak to 12 games on Wednesday afternoon as the Maroons topped Stevenson University, 13-12, in the final seconds of the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Tournament quarterfinals. Richard Lachlan notched the game-winner with 14-seconds on the clock.
  • Maroons Top Gettysburg in NCAA Play

    Seventh-ranked Roanoke was led by Joey Coretti’s four goals in a 15-9 triumph over #12 Gettysburg in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Maroons improved to 16-3 on the season. RC advances to the national quarterfinals and a rematch with Stevenson University, which beat Roanoke in the same round in 2010.
  • Roanoke Tops Colorado in NCAA Play

    Sophomore attack Richard Lachlan (pictured) tied a school post-season record with eight goals to lead #7 Roanoke to a 25-5 victory over Colorado College Wednesday evening at Kerr Stadium. The Maroons (15-3) advance to the second round of the NCAA Div. III Tournament. The Tigers (15-1) ends following its first postseason appearance.
  • RC to Host Colorado in NCAA First Round

    The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) announced its 2011 Division III Men's Lacrosse Tournament field on Sunday evening and Roanoke has been selected to host a first round contest on Wednesday, May 11 at Kerr Stadium.
  • Maroons Top Hornets, Win ODAC Title

    Roanoke defeated #18 Lynchburg, 12-10 to win the 2011 ODAC Men’s Lacrosse Championship on Sunday afternoon. The Maroons, ranked #8 in the USILA Top-20 Coaches Poll, improved to 14-3 on the season, while the Hornets slipped to 13-6. Roanoke earns the ODAC's automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Tournament. Selections at 10:00 p.m. on www.ncaa.com.
  • Tuma Heads Men's Lacrosse Awards

    Roanoke midfielder Justin Tuma headlines the 2011 All-ODAC Men’s Lacrosse Teams as the Maroons’ standout was named the ODAC Player of the Year in a vote of the league’s coaches on Tuesday. Lynchburg mentor Steve Koudelka was tabbed the ODAC Coach of the Year, and Randolph-Macon midfielder Justin Butler was named the ODAC Rookie of the Year.
  • Rostan Earns 250th Win at H-SC

    Hampden-Sydney College Lacrosse Head Coach Ray Rostan recently earned his 250th career win at Hampden-Sydney College with a 17-7 victory over Virginia Wesleyan College on Wednesday in the Quarterfinals of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament.

    Roanoke scored seven of the final eight goals of the contest to down Hampden-Sydney, 13-11, in the ODAC Semifinals on Sunday afternoon. The Maroons, ranked eighth in the USILA Top-20 Poll, advance to their seventh conference championship game in the last eight years. Roanoke is 10-5 in the ODAC Tournament since it began in 2002.
  • Hornets Defeat Generals in ODAC Semis

    Junior Franc Cook made 13 saves Saturday night to help the third-seeded Lynchburg College men's lacrosse team defeat #2 Washington & Lee University 9-7 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) semifinals.

    Hampden-Sydney College scored a season-high 17 goals to defeat Virginia Wesleyan College, 17-7, and move on to the semifinals at Roanoke College on Saturday. Micah Keller (pictured) notched six points on three goals and three assists.
  • Sweet Scores Six in LC's ODAC Win

    Sophomore attack Derek Sweet exploded for six goals to help lead Lynchburg College to a 16-10 win over Randolph-Macon College in the quarterfinals of the ODAC Men's Lacrosse Tournament. The Hornets move on to face Washington and Lee University in the semifinals on Saturday in Lexington.

    The past week saw six new ODAC champions crowned throughout the conference, leaving men's and women's lacrosse as the only two sports in regular season action. Max Voumard helped lead Lynchburg to pair of conference wins, and Gina Valles set both Roanoke and ODAC scoring records in two wins for the Maroons.

    Roanoke will play out the No. 1 position for the third straight season as the 2011 ODAC Men’s Lacrosse Tournament is set to begin later this week. The Maroons, ranked eighth by the USILA, own one of two byes into the semifinals. Washington and Lee commands the other bye as the second seed after securing its position via head-to-head tie-breaker with Lynchburg.

  • Bridgewater to Add to New Varsity Sports

    Bridgewater College is set to increase its varsity sports offerings by two come the 2012-13 academic year. The Eagles will begin competition in varsity men's lacrosse and women's golf at the NCAA Division III level that season. The additions increase BC's athletic offerings to 23 programs, including an ODAC-high 22 conference-sponsored sports.

  • Men's Lacrosse Poll Tied at the Top

    Two teams sit locked in first place in the 2011 ODAC Men’s Lacrosse Preseason Poll. Roanoke and Lynchburg each collected 59 poll points, but the Maroons did receive five first place votes to the Hornets’ three top nods. Hampden-Sydney (48 pts.) and Washington and Lee (42 pts.) stand tight for third and fourth in the annual survey of the league’s coaches.
  • R-MC Tabs Sheridan for Men's Lax Post

    Randolph-Macon College Director of Athletics Jeff Burns announced Tuesday that J.B. Sheridan has been named the new Head Men's Lacrosse Coach for the Yellow Jackets'program. Sheridan arrives in Ashland after two years as an assistant at 2010 Landmark Conference champion Goucher College.
