2014 Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week

  • Jason Andrews, Randolph-Macon, Sr., Attack
    April 28, 2014
    Andrews, a senior from Hereford, Md., put together a 17-point week as he helped the Yellow Jackets to a pair of conference wins and the fifth seed in the upcoming ODAC Men's Lacrosse Tournament. In a tight 15-14 win over Virginia Wesleyan, Andrews had a hand in 11 of R-MC's tallies as he scored nine times and dished out a pair of assists. He also picked up six ground balls and caused a trio of turnovers. Over the weekend at Bridgewater, Andrews capped the regular season with four goals and a pair of helpers in a 13-5 win over the Eagles. He picked up four more ground balls in the effort. Andrews is currently fourth in the ODAC with 69 points, while his 51 goals sit third on the league's charts.
  • Aaron Murphy, Lynchburg, So., Attack

    Murphy, a sophomore from Downingtown, Pa., picks up his second weekly honor after helping the Hornets to a pair of ODAC wins, setting up a logjam at the top of the ODAC standings with three teams with only one conference loss. Murphy opened with one goal and a pair of assists as the Lynchburg handed Washington and Lee its first ODAC loss of the season via an 11-8 scoreline. His tally came on the game's lone man-advantage opportunity. On the weekend, Murphy accounted for half of LC's scoring with a career-high six goals in a 12-7 home win over Randolph-Macon. He also picked up three gound balls and caused a pair of turnovers. For the season, Murphy is fourth in the ODAC with 55 points on 35 goals and 20 assists.
  • Josh Currier, Virginia Wesleyan, So., Attack
    April 14, 2014
    Currier, a sophomore from Peterborough, Ontario, extended his goal scoring streak to 14 straight games (dating back to 2013) as he helped the Marlins to a pair of wins last week. Currier scored six times and dished out an assist in Virginia Wesleyan's 15-8 win at Ferrum. He followed that with two goals and five assists with five ground balls in a 12-11 double-overtime win over Guilford. He supplied the assist on the game-winner, which marked his ODAC-leading 32nd assist of the season. He also leads the ODAC in goals scored (39) and points (71). He is third NCAA Division III in points per game (6.36).
  • Kevin Jackson, Roanoke, Fr., Attack

    Jackson, a freshman from Baltimore, Md., helped the Maroons to a pair of conferenc wins, including a triumph over ninth-ranked Lynchburg. Jackson opened his week with three goals and one assist in a 15-4 win at Shenandoah. He followed that with five goals and a ground ball in a 13-7 home victory over Lynchburg. Jackson is tied for the team lead with 28 goals, which is sixth in the ODAC. His 37 points ranked ninth in the league.
  • Thomas Armstrong, Hampden-Sydney, Jr., Midfielder
    March 31, 2014
    Armstrong, a junior from Charlotte, N.C., helped the Tigers to a pair of wins last week. On Wednesday, Armstrong scored twice and helped out on another tally in Hampden-Sydney's 9-5 at Greensboro. He followed that with three goals and an assist in an 11-5 home triumph over Virginia Wesleyan. Armstrong leads H-SC with 28 points on 19 goals and nine assists. He has four man-up goals this season, which ranks fifth in the ODAC.
  • Cam Lewis, Washington and Lee, Jr., Attack
    March 24, 2014
    Lewis, a junior from Chapel Hill, N.C., led the Generals to a 2-0 week tha included wins over Sewanee (13-7) and Guilford (19-8). Lewis scored four goals with three ground balls against Sewanee. He followed that with five goals and two assists in W&L's triumph at Guilford. Both the goals and total points (7) were career highs. Lewis is currently fifth in the ODAC in points with 32 on 24 goals and eight assists.
  • Aaron Murphy, Lynchburg, So., Attack
    March 17, 2014
    Murphy, a sophomore from Downington, Pa., helped the 12th-ranked Hornets to a 2-0 week that included a 15-7 win over Guilford College and a 10-9 triumph over Colorado College. Against GC, Murphy scored five times including one man-up tally. He followed that with three goals, including a pair in the decisive second period where LC blew open the contest to 8-3 by halftime. He also had three ground balls in that contest. Murphy has scored 13 goals this season. He's sixth in the ODAC with 23 points and 10 assists.
  • Chris Voorhees, Bridgewater, Fr, Attack
    March 10, 2014
    Voorhees, a freshman from Brookeville, Md., put together an 11-point week as the Eagles picked up a pair of non-conference victories. In a 17-4 win over Southern Virginia, Voorhees set a new program record with six goals scored, adding one assist to give him seven points, also a new BC standard. He followed that with four goals in a 10-6 triumph at Transylvania University. For the season, Voorhees is tied for fifth in the ODAC with 12 goals scored.
  • Ryan Davidson, Randolph-Macon, So., Attack
    March 03, 2014
    Davidson, a sophomore from Logan Township, N.J., recorded a 10-point week in a 1-1 showing for the Yellow Jackets. He opened with one tally in a close 11-10 setback at Christopher Newport in the midweek. Over the weekend, he exploded with eight goals and an assist in the Yellow Jackets 18-12 triumph over Goucher. He added two ground balls against the Gophers. Davidson is currently tied for fourth in the league with 14 points, while tying atop the ODAC with 13 goals scored.
  • Steve Latona, Shenandoah, Fr., Attack
    February 24, 2014
    Latona, a freshman from Ellicott City, Md., notched 15 points in a pair of non-conference wins for Shenandoah. In a 23-1 triumph at Southern Virginia, Latona scored five times and dished out an assist. He followed that with five more tallies and four helpers for nine points in a 16-4 victory versus Alvernia. He added a pair of ground balls. Latona currently leads the ODAC with 19 points and 12 goals scored. His seven assists are tied for second.
  • Joe Wood, Washington and Lee, Sr., Midfielder
    February 17, 2014
    Wood, a senior from Bronxville, N.Y., helped the Generals to a pair of wins to open the season. He notched a goal and an assist in W&L's 16-4 triumph against Ferrum. He followed that with five points in a 14-6 victory at Christopher Newport. He scored four times and helped out on another, giving him five goals and two assists thru the first two games of 2014.
