  • Robinson Tabbed as Eagles New Tennis Head Coach

    Following an extensive search, Bridgewater College Director of Athletics Curt Kendall has announced the hiring of Jordon Robinson as the new head coach for the Eagles men’s and women’s tennis teams.
  • Hampden-Sydney's Bates to Retire as Tigers' Tennis Coach
    May 19, 2014
    After eight years at Hampden-Sydney College, Murrie Bates will retire from his post as head tennis coach. His teams went 80-47 overall and 52-22 in the ODAC while finishing top two in the ODAC for four straight seasons, including going undefeated at 9-0 in 2010. He led the Tigers to the conference title in 2009, the same year he was named the state coach of the year. He was also named the ODAC Coach of the Year in 2008 and 2010.
  • W&L Men's Tennis Falls to Kenyon in NCAA Second Round

    The 26th-ranked Washington and Lee men's tennis team saw its season come to an end with a 5-1 loss to 12th-ranked Kenyon in the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament on Saturday afternoon at the Duchossois Tennis Center.
  • Generals Defeat Catholic in NCAA Men's Tennis Opener

    The 26th-ranked Washington and Lee men's tennis team posted a 5-0 victory over Catholic in the opening round of the 2014 NCAA Division III Championship on Friday afternoon at the W&L Courts. The Generals move on to face #12 Kenyon on Saturday.
  • Generals to Host Three Rounds in NCAA Men's Tennis Tournament

    Washington and Lee University was tabbed to serve as host of one of eight regional sites to open the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Tournament. Five teams make their way to Lexington for first-thru-third round play as the field will be pared from 44 teams down to eight squads for the final three rounds in Claremont, Calif.

  • Generals' Shamshiri Headlines ODAC Men's Tennis Awards

    Washington and Lee University top singles player Taylor Shamshiri headlines the 2014 All-ODAC Men's Tennis Awards as the Generals' junior was selected as the ODAC Player of the Year by the league's head coaches. Teammate Michael Holt earned the ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete Award. Randolph-Macon College mentor Charles Gray received ODAC Coach of the Year honors, and Virginia Wesleyan College's Kenneth Downing was tabbed the ODAC Rookie of the Year.
  • Washington and Lee Wins 33rd ODAC Men's Tennis Championship

    Washington and Lee University defeated Virginia Wesleyan College, 5-0, on Sunday afternoon at Sweet Briar College to lock up the 2014 ODAC men's tennis title. The victory secured the 33rd overall and fifth straight men's tennis title for the Generals.

  • ODAC Men's Tennis Tournament Seeds Set

    Washington and Lee University holds down the top seed in the 2014 ODAC Men's Tennis Tournament, as the Generals go in search of their fifth straight and 33rd overall conference crown. Ranked 24th nationally, W&L (12-3 overall, 10-0 ODAC) is followed by Virginia Wesleyan College (13-4,) as the second seed.

  • Washington and Lee Leads ODAC Men's Tennis Preseason Poll

    Washington and Lee University received 10 first place votes towards 100 total points to lead the 2014 ODAC Men's Tennis Preseason Poll. Bridgewater College collected 83 tallies to hold down second position, while Virginia Wesleyan College is third with 75 points. Guilford College picked up the remaining first place nod and 68 points to rank fourth in the annual coach's survey.
  • Virginia Wesleyan Tabs Cummings as Director of Tennis

    Virginia Wesleyan College named Darryl Cummings its new Director of Men's and Women's Tennis on Monday afternoon. Cummings will also serve as the Marlins' assistant sports information director. Cummings comes to VWC from Old Dominion University where he served as director of tennis and head coach from 1992-2011.
  • Jim Schaefer Named Men's Tennis Head Coach at Roanoke
    August 06, 2013
    Jim Schaefer will serve as the new head coach of the Roanoke College men's tennis program announced by Director of Athletics, Scott Allison. He will replace Phil Benne, who will continue in his 25th season as head women's soccer coach. Schaefer comes to Roanoke College as Assistant Head Tennis Pro at Roanoke Country Club, a position he's held since March of 2011.
  • Emory & Henry Selects Kevin Girard as Next Men's Tennis Coach

    Emory & Henry College Director of Athletics Myra Sims is pleased to announce Kevin Girard as the College's next Head Men's Tennis Coach. Girard will begin his duties immediately.
