VWC's Kresinske Named Schutt Sports/NFCA Div. III Freshman of the YearMay 25, 2016Virginia Wesleyan College pitcher Kandis Kresinske headlined four ODAC players who received All-American awards from the NFCA at a presentation on Wednesday evening in Salem, Va. The Marlins righty was named the inaugural Schutt Sports/NFCA Division III Freshman from the Year in addition to earning First Team All-America distinction.

Marlins Comeback Falls Short in NCAA Loss to SalisburyMay 14, 2016The No. 1-ranked Virginia Wesleyan College softball team put two runners on base in the final inning with one out, but could not push across the tying run, falling 2-1 to No. 2 Salisbury University in the Norfolk, Virginia Regional of the NCAA Division III Softball Tournament.

Virginia Wesleyan Selected to Host Regional in NCAA Softball TournamentMay 09, 2016Virginia Wesleyan College locked up its entry into the NCAA Division III Softball Tournament last weekend, but the news got better for the Marlins on Monday afternoon. Virginia Wesleyan was selected as one of 16 regional hosts as VWC will open its Virginia Beach campus to three other squads this weekend.

SU's Brady, VWC's Kresinske Headline All-ODAC Softball AwardsMay 03, 2016Shenandoah outfielder Kimberly Brady and Virginia Wesleyan righty Kandis Kresinske headline the 2016 All-ODAC Softball Awards as the two were named the ODAC Player and Pitcher of the Year, respectively. Kresinske added a second honor, doubling as the ODAC Rookie of the Year. Eastern Mennonite mentor J.D. McCurdy earned ODAC Coach of the Year laurels, while Guilford outfielder Laura Hall picked up her second straight ODAC/Va. Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete award.

Galvin's Double Provides Winning Run Towards Ninth ODAC Softball TitleMay 02, 2016Virginia Wesleyan College catcher Taylor Galvin smacked a walk-off double with two-out in the ninth inning to plate the Marlins' 10th run towards a 10-9 extra-inning victory over Eastern Mennonite University on Monday afternoon at the James I. Moyer Sports Complex in Salem, Va.

Weather Postpones ODAC Softball Championship GameMay 01, 2016The ODAC Softball Tournament staved the rain showers surrounding the James I. Moyer Sports Complex on Saturday, but luck ran out on Sunday as precipitation overnight and into the morning accompanied by further predicted rainfall has postponed play in the title game.

Eight-Team Field Set for ODAC Softball TournamentApril 24, 2016Two ties dotted the ODAC softball standings following the last day of competition in the regular season, but neither dealt with the top seed as Virginia Wesleyan College (34-5, 17-1) enters next week's ODAC Softball Tournament with No. 1 billing. Eastern Mennonite University (28-12, 13-5) slots as the second seed in the eight-team field.

LC Softball Head Coach Dawn Simmons Wins 500th Career GameApril 13, 2016Head coach Dawn Simmons earned her 500th career win Wednesday night in a 9-2 victory over Shenandoah University in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play. The Hornets also took game one earlier in the day 10-1 to earn the doubleheader sweep. It is Simmons' 18th season as the head mentor at LC after a stellar three-sport playing career at the school.

VWC's Howering Named NFCA National Player of the WeekMarch 02, 2016Virginia Wesleyan's Cassetty Howerin and Texas-Tyler's Kelsie Batten have been selected as the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III National Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively. Howerin was 7-for-10 last week with three homers, 10 RBI and six runs scored last week.

Randolph-Macon Tops ODAC Softball Preseason PollFebruary 12, 2016Reigning ODAC champion Randolph-Macon College was tabbed the favorite by the league's head coaches entering the 2016 season as the Yellow Jackets earned 78 total points and six first place votes to lead the ODAC Softball Preseason Poll. Virginia Wesleyan College collected 72 tallies and three top nods, while Lynchburg College secured third place with 69 points including the remaining first place vote.

ODAC Tabs Cornwell as Supervisor of Softball OfficialsJuly 15, 2015The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Christie Cornwell as the new supervisor of officials for softball. Cornwell assumes the position immediately. She replaces Carlton "Corkey" Oliver, who retired from the post following the completion of the 2015 spring season.

EMU's McCurdy Inducted into RCBL Hall of FameJuly 02, 2015J.D. McCurdy has been involved with softball far more years than he played baseball. Yet Eastern Mennonite University's head softball coach was once a regular All-Star first baseman and clean-up hitter in the Rockingham County Baseball League (RCBL) from 1968 to 1984. For both his athletic prowess and his coaching contributions to the Shenandoah Valley, McCurdy was among 13 inductees into the RCBL Hall of Fame on June 27, 2015, at the Weyers Cave Community Center.
