  • ODAC Names Jopson, Berkley Winners
    June 11, 2010
    A pair of student-athletes were honored with the league's highest honors on Thursday afternoon at the annual ODAC Board of Directors meetings. Rebecca Bradford from VWC was awarded the Marjorie Berkley Award. Fellow senior and H-SC men’s tennis star, William Moss, garnered the Harry G. "Doc" Jopson Award.
  • Hollins Adds Volleyball, Hires New Coach

    Hollins University announced earlier this winter that it would be adding volleyball to its stable of seven collegiate sports, beginning with a provisional schedule in 2010-11. Jason Kozak has made the move from UVA to be the new head coach of the program's restart.
  • Saluting the Fall Scholar-Athletes

    Eight student-athletes from Old Dominion Athletic Conference member schools to earn a 2009 ODAC/Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete Award during the fall athletic schedule. Farm Bureau Insurance is the proud presenter of each award for the ODAC's 22 sponsored sports.
  • VWC's Bradford Earns Scholar-Athlete Award

    Virginia Wesleyan College volleyball standout, Rebecca Leedom Bradford, is one of eight student-athletes from Old Dominion Athletic Conference member schools to earn a 2009 ODAC/Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete Award during the fall athletic schedule. Bradford, winner of this honor for the second straight season, was tabbed from a pool of nominees by a vote of each of the conference’s sports information directors.
  • ODAC Schools Ready for NCAA Play

    ODAC schools put seven teams in the NCAA Division III postseason tournaments set to begin this week. Lynchburg is joined by Virginia Wesleyan in men's soccer. The Hornets and Marlins accompany Washington and Lee in women's soccer. Lynchburg is the ODAC's lone qualifier in field hockey, and Randolph-Macon takes to the courts in volleyball.
  • R-MC Wins ODAC Volleyball Title

    Randolph-Macon won its first ODAC volleyball championship on Saturday afternoon, upholding its billing as the No. 1 seed with a 3-1 win over seventh-seeded Roanoke. The Yellow Jackets earn the ODAC's automatic qualifier into the NCAA Division III Tournament.
  • Volleyball Finals Set, Audio Available

    For the second straight year, the ODAC Volleyball Tournament championship match will feature the No. 1 and No. 7 seeded teams. Randolph-Macon continued to live up to its top billing with a straight sets win over Bridgewater. Roanoke kept its upset run in motion with a 3-1 over Lynchburg. Audio will be available for the championship match.
  • R-MC Headlines Volleyball All-ODAC Awards

    Randolph-Macon won three of the four individual awards and placed four athletes between the All-ODAC first or second teams amongst the 2009 ODAC Volleyball All-Conference honors. Raena Winton was tabbed the ODAC Player of the Year, while head coach Bill Rogers was selected as the ODAC Coach of the Year. Jessica Sears earned ODAC Rookie of the Year recognition. Virginia Wesleyan's Rebecca Bradford won the ODAC/Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete Award.
  • Top Three Seeds Advance in Volleyball

    Three of the top four seeds advanced in the ODAC Volleyball Tournament on Friday afternoon, with the lone upset shaking up the tourney field. Randolph-Macon (#1), Lynchburg (#3) and Bridgewater (#4) were joined by Roanoke (#7) after the Maroons ousted Washington and Lee (#2) from the tourney.

    The 2009 ODAC Volleyball Tournament opens with the new face as the No. 1 seed entering the tourney. Randolph-Macon holds the top billing in this year’s two-day event, with Washington and Lee and Lynchburg holding the second and third seeds, respectively. Bridgewater rounds out the top four ranks.
  • LC Leads ODAC in Regional Rankings

    The NCAA recently released its Division III Regional Rankings, and Lynchburg , Randolph-Macon and Washington and Lee were among the ODAC representatives from the South Region in volleyball. The Hornets are ranked sixth, while the Yellow Jackets and the Generals rounded out the top eight.

    Emory & Henry sophomore Rachel Fertitta claimed her second weekly honor in as many days on Tuesday as the middle hitter was named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week.

    Several athletes shined throughout the past week of action for ODAC member schools. Emory & Henry's Rachel Fertitta (above) was one of those students as she belted out 53 kills and hit at a .658 clip to lead the Wasps to a 4-0 week.

    Washington and Lee maintains its familiar spot atop the ODAC volleyball ranks as the league’s coaches picked the Generals as the favorite to win their 13th conference title. VWC, BC and R-MC also received first place votes.
