Emilee Wooten, Roanoke, Sr., Forward
November 01, 2021Wooten, a senior from Gaithersburg, Md., added five more goals to her season total including arguably the most important for Roanoke of the season as the Maroons won a pair of ODAC games to lock up the fourth seed and an all important quarterfinal hosting opportunity in the upcoming ODAC Tournament. Wooten opened her week with four goals in an 8-0 win at Ferrum. That set up the season finale at Randolph-Macon in which the Maroons all-time points and goals scored leader tallied the lone goal of the game for a 1-0 Roanoke win. Wooten intercepted a restart and finished off a give-and-go with Lindsey Keyes in the 16th minute. That win secured the fourth seed for the Maroons as R-MC will make the return trip to Salem as the fifth seed in the ODAC quarterfinals. For the season, Wooten is second in the ODAC in goals (21) and third in points (46). She has scored at least one goal in 13-of-17 games played. -
Peyton Tysinger, Washington and Lee, Jr., Forward
October 25, 2021Tysinger, a junior from Norfolk, Va., helped the nationally 12th-ranked Generals stay atop the ODAC standings with a pair of conference victories last week. In a 2-1 victory at Shenandoah -- which has received votes to the past two NFHCA coaches' polls -- Tysinger provided the assist on the game-winner scored by Maddy Duggleby in the 51st minute. Tysinger was then back on the scoresheet in a 7-2 triumph over Randolph-Macon. She scored twice with an unassisted effort in the 35th minute and then finished off a feed from Kailey Fitzgerald in the 46th minute. Tysinger, who put six shots on goal over the two games, has now racked up 14 points on six goals and two assists on the season. Washington and Lee has now won a program-best 13 straight games as it sits atop the ODAC standings at 6-0 in league play and 13-0 overall. The Generals have won 17 straight home games dating back to October 26, 2019. -
Mairead McKibbin, Shenandoah, Fy., Midfielder
October 18, 2021McKibbin, a first-year from Magnolia, Del., posted an 11-point week as Shenandoah earned two ODAC wins to improve to 5-0 in league play and sit unbeaten tied atop the standings with nationally 14th-ranked Washington and Lee. The Hornets, who received votes towards last week's NFHCA coaches poll, continue to extend their program-record winning streak, which now stands at 12 straight games. McKibbin played a part in seven of the 11 goals SU scored last week in road wins at Roanoke and Bridgewater. Against the Maroons, she scored the opener just 36-seconds into the match and assisted Cassidy Morrison on the game's second goal in a 3-1 victory. On the week at Bridgewater, McKibbin scored three times (included a pair of unassisted efforts) and handed out two assists in an 8-0 triumph over the Eagles. For the season, McKibbin ranks second in the ODAC in points (36) and assists (12) and fourth in goals scored (12). She leads the league with five game-deciding goals. -
Kelsey Jones, Shenandoah, Sr., Midfielder
October 11, 2021Jones, a senior from Fredericksburg, Va., put together a 14-point week as she had a hand in eight Shenandoah goals over a pair of ODAC victories. The Hornets have now won program record 10 straight games and sit at 3-0 in league play tied with Lynchburg and Washington and Lee for the top spot in the conference table. Jones, who earned ODAC Offensive Player of the Year honors last spring, found the back wall of the cage three times during the midweek as SU traveled to Eastern Mennonite for an 11-0 victory over the Royals. She again beat the keeper on three occasions on the weekend but added two assists for eight points as the driving force behind a 9-0 triumph at home over Virginia Wesleyan. The two helpers extended her Shenandoah career record to 46, which is tied for seventh in ODAC history. She is tied for the program points record (136) and sits just three goals shy of matching the SU record for goals scored (47). Jones currently leads the ODAC in points (36) and goals scored (15). She is tied for fifth with six assists. -
Kayla Brady, Lynchburg, So., Goalkeeper
October 04, 2021Brady, a sophomore from Millsboro, Del., was on-point with 11 saves in helping nationally 19th-ranked Lynchburg to a trio of wins last week. Brady helped shutdown three strong offensive beginning with a pair of saves in a 3-1 ODAC road win at Roanoke. She then made two more stops in a 3-0 shutout at Denison University in the first of two games in Ohio. The next day, Brady made seven saves as the Hornets pulled out a 2-1 overtime victory at Kenyon College. For the season, Brady owns a 1.48 goals-against average with a .780 save percentage in 527:36 of game time guarding Lynchburg's cage. -
Tess Muneses, Washington and Lee, Jr., Forward
September 27, 2021Muneses, a junior from Howard County, Md., helped the Generals improve to 6-0 on the season with a pair of non-conference victories over the weekend. Muneses started with two goals in a 4-2 victory over Catholic University on Saturday. After the Cardinals had gone ahead, 2-1, following the opening 15 minutes of play, Muneses carried the ball into the circle and sent a shot on goal that CUA's keeper saved. The rebound came right back to Muneses, and she fired the tying goal into the back of the cage. She put Washington and Lee ahead for good less than two minutes later as she converted a penalty stroke with 6:12 showing on the second quarter clock. Muneses was back on the scoreboard with a goal and an assist in W&L's 4-1 win over nationally 18th-ranked Centre on Sunday. She assisted Grace Weise on the opening tally just 1:48 into the contest. Muneses then put the game away with a rocket shot off a penalty corner setup by Kailey Fitzgerald and Peyton Tysinger in the 49th minute. For the season, Muneses has registered 13 points on five goals and three assists. -
Jackie Lerro, Lynchburg, Gr., Foward
September 20, 2021Lerro, a graduate student from Royersford, Pa., was on the scoreboard early and often as she had a hand in all four goals as the nationally 19th-ranked Hornets took down #13 Ursinus College, 4-3 in overtime, in a clash of NFHCA Top-20 programs. Lerro provided service to Riley Winefordner for the game's opening goal. After UC went ahead 2-1, the three-time All-ODAC First Teamer and former ODAC Player of the Year pulled Lynchburg level with her first goal of the game in the 26th minute. The score remained tied until the final period when Lerro assisted Emily Dudley in the 49th minute for a 3-2 lead. Ursinus forced overtime with a tally in the 53rd minute, but Lerro came thru 6:13 into the extra frame as she beat a defender just outside the circle and tucked a shot inside the near post from five yards out to clinch the Hornets' win with her third career overtime goal. Lerro has nine points on two goals and five assists this season. She continues to improve her standing in the ODAC and Lynchburg record books with 201 career points on 81 goals and 39 assists. -
Grace Weise, Washington and Lee, Sr., Forward
September 13, 2021Weise, a senior from Bryn Mawr, Pa., had a hand in four of Washington and Lee's five goals in the Generals 5-4 victory over nationally 14th-ranked Christopher Newport University. Weise notched a career-best seven points as she recorded her second career hat trick. The seven points tie for fifth-most in a single game in program history. Weise assisted Freddie Tobeason on W&L's first goal in the eighth minute to tie the game 1-1. She then scored the Generals next two tallies, give W&L leads of 2-1 and 3-2 in the 19th and 36th minutes, respectively, with the latter qualifying as the winning goal. She gave W&L some cushion with her final tally as Tobeason returned the favor with an assist for a 5-3 advantage just over 12 minutes from full time. For the season, Weise has scored four goals with one assist. -
Elizabeth Longacre, Eastern Mennonite, So., Forward
September 07, 2021Longacre, a sophomore from Quakertown, Pa., exploded with 11 points to help Eastern Mennonite to a pair of non-conference wins to open the season. Longacre needed just seven shots to register five goals for a .714 shooting percentage in an 8-0 shutout over Lancaster Bible in game one. She then factored in the lone goal in game two as she assisted Ashley Maldonado on her goal with 57-seconds to play for a 1-0 victory over Transylvania. Longacre leads the ODAC in points and goals scored thru the first weekend of the season.
