ODAC Winter and Spring Sportsmanship Teams AnnouncedAugust 20, 2015The Old Dominion Athletic Conference is pleased to announce the 2014-15 ODAC Sportsmanship Teams in each of the 17 winter and spring sports sponsored by the conference. This marks the sixth year the league has recognized these fine student-athletes for their excellence in sportsmanship.

ODAC Featured in April Edition of WhyD3 ShowApril 05, 2015[VIDEO] Several ODAC athletes and an administrator are featured in the April edition of the WhyD3 Show. Host Dave McHugh spent the weekend in Salem during the men's basketball final four and conducted interviews with Virginia Wesleyan athletic director Joanne Renn and Jess Rheinheimer, the winner of the Jostens Trophy from EMU. McHugh also conducted his three words feature with Cam Owens, Breven Lyons and Greg Montgomery from VWC, as well as with Rheinheimer.

EMU's Rheinheimer Becomes Second Junior to Win Jostens TrophyMarch 13, 2015EMU women's basketball player Jess Rheinheimer (Manheim, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) has won the prestigious Jostens Trophy. The award goes to just one women's and men's NCAA Division III basketball player who excels on the floor, in the classroom and in the community. The award takes into account three vital parts: basketball ability, academic prowess and community service.

EMU Pushes No. 1 Thomas More Before Falling in NCAA Second RoundMarch 07, 2015For the first 30 minutes of the game, Eastern Mennonite's women were capably playing with No. 1 Thomas More College on a hostile court in Crestview Hills, Ky. But then TMC's Sydney Moss, last year's D3hoops National Player of the Year, took over and knocked the Royals from the NCAA Tournament, 85-65.

VWC's Upset Bid Falls Short in NCAA Women's Basketball First RoundMarch 06, 2015Virginia Wesleyan women's basketball had a chance to tie or take the lead with 4.9 seconds to play, but the New York University defense didn't allow a final shot from the Marlins, allowing the host Violets to escape with a 51-50 victory in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Brown's Game-Winner Erases Big Deficit in EMU's NCAA WinMarch 06, 2015In dramatic fashion, the EMU came from behind to earn a 77-76 win over La Roche in a First Round game in the NCAA Tournament Friday. The Royals trailed by as many as 18 points in each half, but Alisa Brown's game-winning layup with 4.5 seconds left capped a 35-16 game-ending run, giving the Royals their first NCAA Tournament win since 2004.

EMU's Rheinheimer, R-MC's Parsons Named Jostens Trophy FinalistsMarch 03, 2015Eastern Mennonite University forward Jess Rheinheimer and Randolph-Macon College guard Sarah Parsons were announced as two of 10 women's finalists for the 2015 Jostens Trophy. Ten men's finalists joined the women in a national release on Tuesday. The winners will be presented with their honors on Thursday, March 19, in a presentation at Roanoke College as part of the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship Series hosted in Salem.

EMU Joins VWC in the NCAA Women's Basketball TournamentMarch 02, 2015Virginia Wesleyan College will be joined by Eastern Mennonite University in the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament, marking the fourth time in six years that the ODAC has received multiple entries in the women's ranks. The Marlins' entry into the tournament was guaranteed after earning the conference's automatic bid by winning their first-ever league crown, but the Royals had to wait to learn if their season would continue as one of 20 at-large selections.

Virginia Wesleyan Wins First-Ever ODAC Women's Basketball ChampionshipMarch 01, 2015Nancy Kelly snared an offensive rebound with nine seconds on the clock, drew a foul, and hit two pressure-packed free throws to help lift fourth-seeded Virginia Wesleyan College to a thrilling 59-57 victory over third-seeded Lynchburg College in the 2015 ODAC Women's Basketball championship game. The win gave VWC its first-ever ODAC championship in women's basketball.

EMU's Rheinheimer, Griffin Lead ODAC Women's Basketball AwardsFebruary 26, 2015Eastern Mennonite University forward Jess Rheinheimer and Royals' mentor Kevin Griffin took home three of the four major honors as part of the 2015 ODAC Women's Basketball All-Conference awards. Rheinheimer earned both the ODAC Player of the Year as well as ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete distinctions. Griffin was tabbed the ODAC Coach of the Year. Emory & Henry College guard Chloe Harris earned ODAC Rookie of the Year recognition.

EMU's Rheinheimer Named First Team Academic All-AmericanFebruary 24, 2015Eastern Mennonite University junior Jess Rheinheimer (Manheim, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) has been named to the Capital One Academic All-America First Team. She is just one of five women's basketball players from the entire country named to the First Team. An EMU Honors Student, Rheinheimer holds a 3.96 GPA in the university's well-respected nursing program, along with a minor in history.

ODAC Women's Basketball Tournament Pairings SetFebruary 22, 2015Much was left to be decided in the final week of the ODAC women's basketball regular season, especially on Sunday's final play date after many reschedules due to inclement weather. Eastern Mennonite University put the finishing touches on a one-loss conference campaign to stake its claim to the top seed in the upcoming ODAC Women's Basketball Tournament for the third straight year. The Royals and the remaining top four seeds in the 12-team tournament field earn byes into the quarterfinals.

EMU's Rheinheimer Named National Player of the Week by USBWAJanuary 06, 2015Eastern Mennonite junior forward Jess Rheinheimer has rung in the new year in resounding fashion, earning the ODAC's Player of the Week as well as a spot on the D3hoops.com Team of the Week. She adds one more honor to her stellar two-game showing as she was named the Division III National Player of the Week by the USBWA. Rheinheimer scored 70 combined points with two double-doubles in wins over CNU and Washington College, going for 41 points in the latter contest.

Lynchburg Perched Atop the ODAC Women's Basketball Preseason PollNovember 06, 2014There's a new team atop the ODAC Women's Basketball Preseason Poll as Lynchburg College looks down from its No. 1 position after picking up eight first place votes and 117 total points. Randolph-Macon College received two top nods and 106 points, while Eastern Mennonite University grabbed one first place vote and 101 tallies to place third. Guilford College garnered the remaining first place vote and tied with Virginia Wesleyan College for fourth in the annual coaches' survey with 90 points.

Maroons Name Carla Flaherty New Women's Basketball Head CoachAugust 04, 2014Carla Flaherty will serve as the new head coach of the Roanoke College women's basketball program announced by Director of Athletics, Scott Allison, on Monday. Flaherty steps into the role previously held by Susan Dunagan, who retired after 33 Years at the helm of the women's basketball program.
