ODAC Announces Berkley and Jopson Award WinnersJune 07, 2022It is rare to have a "first" for a set of awards that have been bestowed since the early 1980's, but that is exactly what we have this season following the announcement of the Marjorie Berkley and Harry G. "Doc" Jopson Awards on Tuesday afternoon. Shenandoah University women's basketball forward Olivia Weinel and Eastern Mennonite University cross country and mid-distance track athlete Isaac Alderfer garnered the conference's highest honors from the ODAC Board of the Directors. Weinel is the first recipient of either honor from Shenandoah since the Winchester-based school joined the ODAC prior to the 2012-13 season. Alderfer is the sixth Royal to earn the Jopson Award and 12th overall high honor winner from EMU. He is the first Royals' student-athlete to claim either trophy since Tyler Denlinger earned the Jopson Award in 2017.

Hollins University Names Chris Kilcoyne Director of AthleticsJune 01, 2022Hollins University has announced that Chris Kilcoyne will become the school’s director of athletics, effective July 1. He has served as interim director since December.

W&L Claims All Three ODAC Commissioners Cups for Seventh Straight SeasonMay 18, 2022Washington and Lee University caps a stellar conference campaign by claiming all three ODAC Commissioners Cups for the seventh straight season including the Dan Wooldridge Overall Champions Cup and the Women's Commissioners Cup by record ratings. The University of Lynchburg placed second in each table, while Randolph-Macon College finished third in all three setups.

ODAC Athletes of the Week | GolfApril 20, 2022The final week of the regular season is here with just men's golf competing in Week 33 ahead of its championship in 11 days. Women's golf started gearing up last week for its championship event set for this coming weekend into early next week. Four conference teams competed at the season-ending Discover Dekalb Emory Invite last week with nationally 15th-ranked Washington and Lee tying for second behind strong play from its five-man team including tournament runner-up and the final ODAC Men's Golfer of the Week, Pierce Robinson.

Four of those new marks are on the men's side with school records and national top-25 rankings dotting each side of the ledger. ODAC Athletes of the Week | GolfApril 13, 2022The end of the 2021-22 golf season is drawing ever closer. Only the ODAC Golf Championships remain on the women's schedule following action in Week 32. ODAC men's golfers has one more week of events before gearing up for their edition of the conference championships. Three events combined dotted the ODAC men's and women's golf schedules over the past week with conference golfers stationed about two leaderboards. Earning this weeks ODAC Golfer of the Week awards are Hampden-Sydney's Trevor Elliott and Lynchburg's Emily Brubaker. Elliott won the Gold Championship at Camp LeJeune, while Brubaker tied for first at the Greenbrier Collegiate Invite before finishing as the runner-up following the first playoff hole.

ODAC Athletes of the Week | GolfApril 06, 2022Week 31 of ODAC golf only featured three combined tournaments amongst the league's men's and women's ranks, but many teams and athletes took part in those events. Efforts were highlighted by a pair of team victories for Lynchburg's women and Hampden-Sydney's men. This week's ODAC Golfers of the Week placed highly on their respective leaderboards. The Hornets' Emily Brubaker earned her third medal of the season and fifth of her career by winning the Historic Triangle Invitational. The Tigers' Brian Polinchok posted his second top-five showing of the year after finishing as the runner-up at the Tiger Spring Tournament.

Frank Shushok Jr., Ph.D., Appointed 12th President of Roanoke CollegeMarch 22, 2022The Roanoke College Board of Trustees has appointed Frank Shushok Jr., Ph.D. the 12th president of Roanoke College. Shushok, current vice president for student affairs at Virginia Tech, will succeed Michael C. Maxey, who will retire as president of Roanoke College in July, after serving for 15 years.

ODAC Athletes of the Week | GolfMarch 16, 2022There were just a few events on the schedule in ODAC men's and women's golf during week 28 of the 2021-22 campaign. Both of this week's winners came from strong showings at the Hill City Invitational hosted by the University of Lynchburg on Monday and Tuesday. Hornets' standouts Emily Brubaker and Eddie Coffren V received this week's honors, their first of the spring season.

ODAC Athletes of the Week | GolfMarch 09, 2022ODAC golf teams kicked off the spring portion of their schedules over the past 10 days with multiple tournaments to cap the conference's action in week 27. Several league schools did not waste time trying to acclimate themselves following four months away from competition with participation in strong fields over the past week. The first two ODAC Golfers of the Week are from Washington and Lee following good showings at their respective Savannah Invitational in Georgia. The ODAC Women's Golfer of the Week is Megan Kanaby, while the ODAC Men's Golfer of the Week is Cannon Crane.
