  • ODAC Announces All-ODAC Wrestling Awards
    March 30, 2023
    ODAC wrestling caps off a successful return to the collegiate landscape following a 40-plus year hiatus with the announcement of the 2022-23 All-ODAC Wrestling Awards. Greensboro College junior and now three-time All-American Josh Wilson headlines the list as the ODAC Wrestler of the Year following a vote of the league's head coaches.

    We close Week 30 reporting with our men's and women's golfers of the week. Weather impacted play at a couple of events, but that didn't keep Washington and Lee's Pierce Robinson and Averett's Lilli Caroline Tamburstuen from being two of several high-finishing players from ODAC schools. The Generals' and Cougars' standouts are the ODAC Men's and Women's Golfers of the Week for Wednesday, March 29.

    A little over a week's worth of events are included in the Week 29-capping report for men's and women's golf. Several tournaments of varying field sizes and length of play included ODAC golfers, with most featuring very high finishes by league stars. Those earning ODAC Golfer of the Week recognition for Wednesday, March 22 are Guilford College sophomore Michael Vick and Washington and Lee University sophomore Marcella Mercer.

    Golf returned to action with a handful of events over the past several days to cap reporting for Week 26. ODAC players posted top-10 finishes on both sides of the ledger, including a third-place showing for our ODAC Women's Golfer of the Week, Amani Narang from Sweet Briar College. Virginia Wesleyan's Jacob Swigart finished seventh in his first event of the season with a pair of sub-80 rounds, earning him the ODAC Men's Golfer of the Week nod.

  • Generals Perched Atop ODAC Women's Lacrosse Preseason Poll
    February 15, 2023
    For the second straight season, 12-time defending conference champion Washington and Lee University returns nine starters to its roster that each earned All-ODAC recognition a season ago. That provides for the fuel for the Generals to yet again stand atop the ODAC Women's Lacrosse Preseason Poll as we prepare for the 2023 campaign. Washington and Lee collected 10 first place votes on the way to an even 100 points at the top of the table. Roanoke College, runner-up last year for the third straight season, garnered the remaining top nod to power an 89-point haul in second place. Shenandoah University rounds out the top-three with 82 markers.

  • Marlins, Yellow Jackets Separated By One Point in ODAC Softball Poll
    February 09, 2023
    ODAC softball has been wildly successful for much of the last decade on several levels with a combination of single-school dominance and multi-institutional parity. This year's ODAC Softball Preseason Poll may illustrate that better than ever with just one point separating two of the 15 squads that have qualified for NCAA Tournament play over the past five seasons. Six-time defending ODAC champion Virginia Wesleyan University sits atop the table but by just one point over fellow 2022 NCAA super regional qualifier Randolph-Macon College. The Marlins collected six first place votes on the way to 95 points, while the Yellow Jackets secured the remaining five top nods to power a 94-point haul. University of Lynchburg lines up next with 81 markers and is followed closely by 2022 NCAA qualifier Roanoke College with 75 tallies. Bridgewater College rounds out the top-five with 63 points.

Week 23 brough us within days of closing the first wrestling regular season since 1980 with its championship set for this coming Saturday at Shenandoah. Swimming will also compete for an ODAC trophy this week with four days of action in Greensboro. Men's and women's basketball is just a couple of weeks away from finalizing the league tables for ODAC Tournament qualification.     January 27, 2023
    Division III Management Council approved the new members of the Division III Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) during the annual NCAA Convention in San Antonio, Texas, on January 11-14. Virginia Wesleyan University first-year Julia Hathaway was appointed to represent the ODAC as well as Pennsylvania’s Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) in the SAAC’s partnership program.

    Our sixth edition of the ODAC's "Title IX Talk" feature series highlights individuals from four ODAC schools and the conference office as we talk to our biggest group yet. Four individuals from conference school's join Haley Overstreet, the ODAC Director of Championships, to discuss several topics surrounding their experiences with Title IX. Those joining Haley include Allison Nichols, the women's basketball head coach at the University of Lynchburg, Ashley and Melissa Smeltzer-Kraft, the head coaches for field hockey and women's basketball at Shenandoah University, respectively, and Bethany Dannelly, the current associate athletic director at Washington and Lee University and former ODAC Director of Championships.
