Eric Van Dunk, Lynchburg, Junior, ThrowsFebruary 20, 2012Van Dunk, a junior from Mahwah, N.J., won the shot put with a career-best toss of 49'11.75", which puts him second in the ODAC. He also took fourth in the weight throw with a heave of 38’06.75” at the VMI Relays.

LaCear Hubbard, Lynchburg, Junior, Jumps/SprintsFebruary 20, 2012Hubbard, a junior from Madison Heights, Va., won the triple jump and the long jump competitions on Saturday at the VMI Winter Relays. Hubbard jumped 36'7" in the triple jump and 17'9.5" in the long jump. She currently sits 23rd in the nation in the triple jump and 27th in the long jump. Hubbard also finished second in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.60. Hubbard sits atop the ODAC in the long jump and triple jump standings after her performances on Saturday.

Kori Penick, Lynchburg, Junior, ThrowsFebruary 13, 2012Penick, a junior from Amherst, Va., moved into second place all-time at Lynchburg in the shot put as she heaved the apparatus 12.56 meters (41' 2.5") on Friday night at Liberty in the LU Quad Meet. She mark is #1 in the ODAC this season. She currently ranks 30th in NCAA Division III.

Zander Tallman, Washington and Lee, Sophomore, SprintsFebruary 13, 2012Tallman, a sophomore from Grand Blanc, Mich., broke two school records at the Bucknell Winter Classic on Saturday. He finished first overall in the 400-meter dash with a new school standard of 49.06, crushing his own record of 49.96 that he set last year. His 49.06 is also currently the third fastest time in NCAA Division III and the fastest mark in the ODAC this season. Tallman also finished third overall and first among Division III competitors in the 200-meter dash with a school-record time of 22.31, eclipsing the old mark of 22.78. That time is also a new season-best standard for the conference.

Amy Smith, Shenandoah, Senior, Mid-DistanceFebruary 06, 2012Smith, a senior from Bassett, Va., ran to three top three finishes and a trio of school records at the DuCharme Invitational over the weekend. Smith won the mile run with a new ODAC seasonal top time of 5:18.71, breaking the Shenandoah record by nearly eight seconds. She went on to place third in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:25.20, just short of five seconds faster than the previous school standard. Smith also partnered with her teammates in the 4x400-meter relay to place third in a time of 4:31.38, better than four seconds faster than the old school mark.

Ralph Davis, Lynchburg, Senior, ThrowsFebruary 06, 2012Davis, a senior from Herndon, Va., continued his strong indoor campaign with a big performance in the weight throw at the Vince Brown Invitational over the weekend. Davis set a new ODAC seasonal top mark with a toss of 17.00 meters (55' 9.25") to win the event. His throw was over a foot farther than the nearest competitor at the meet, and the mark out-paces ODAC competition by 2.46 meters (8' 1.25").

Johnathan Smith, Guilford, Sophomore, SprintsJanuary 30, 2012Smith, a sophomore from Conyers, Ga., placed fourth in the 60-meter dash at the Liberty Open with a time of 6.92 seconds, tops among NCAA Division III contestants. He set a Guilford school record with his effort, which also stands as the fourth-fastest time in NCAA Division III this season. It marks the second time Smith has posted a sub-seven second time as the ODAC seasonal best mark this year.

Amy Smith, Shenandoah, Senior, DistanceJanuary 30, 2012Smith a senior from Bassett, Va., placed third in the 5000-meter run with a time of 18:44.96 at the Thompson Invitational at the University of Delaware. She also helped the Hornets to a ninth place showing in the 4x400-meter relay, which set a new school record time of 4:35.45 (4:42.08).

Carmen Graves, Roanoke, Junior, Mid-DistanceJanuary 23, 2012Graves, a junior from Christiansburg, Va., picks up her second straight ODAC weekly award after a record-setting performance at the Hokie Invitational over the weekend. Graves competed in 800-meter run and finished fourth overall and first among NCAA Division III competitors with a time of 2:12.17. That time not only set a new ODAC seasonal-best time, but it also topped the ODAC record by nearly four seconds (previous record -- 2:15.83 by LC's Megan Wiseman in 2003). Additionally, Graves' time is the best in all of NCAA Division III this season.

Greg Wilson, Lynchburg, Sophomore, ThrowsJanuary 23, 2012Wilson, a sophomore from Sagamore Beach, Mass., put together a solid week thru a pair of meets. At the LC Sprints, Jumps and Throws Challenge on Wednesday, Wilson threw the shot put 15.30 meters (50' 2"), the second longest at the event. The mark was good for second all-time in the Lynchburg record books, and puts him currently 19th in the nation. He also was fifth in the weight throw with a heave of 13.43 meters (44' 0.75"). At the Marietta Open, Wilson helped LC win the eight-team event. He won the shot put with a toss of 14.89 meters (48' 10.25") and was second in the weight throw with a mark of 13.96 meters (45' 9.75").

Carmen Graves, Roanoke, JuniorJanuary 16, 2012Graves, a junior from Christiansburg, Va., put together a strong performance at the Marietta Open (Ohio) this past weekend as she won a pair of individual events. Graves out-paced the field by 3.86 seconds in the 500-meter dash to win the discipline in a time of 1:18.16. She also captured the long jump competition with a leap of 5.06 meters (16' 7.25").

Zander Tallman, Washington and Lee, SophomoreJanuary 16, 2012Tallman, sophomore from Grand Blanc, Mich., picks up his second ODAC weekly honor of the early indoor track season. Tallman put together a championship-caliber performance at the Marietta Open (Ohio) this past weekend as he won a pair of individual events and helped the Generals to a relay victory. Tallman won the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.78 seconds, and then followed that with a 50.05 showing to claim top prize in the 400-meter dash. That time currently ranks third in all of NCAA Division III. Tallman also ran a leg on the Generals' 4x400-meter relay team, which won the event in 3:30.86.

Amy Smith, Shenandoah, SeniorDecember 13, 2011Smith, a senior from Bassett, Va., won the 1000 meter race in a school-record time of 3:12.24 at the Dickinson Holiday Invitational.

Zander Tallman, Washington and Lee, SophomoreDecember 05, 2011Tallman, a sophomore from Grand Blanc, Mich., set the benchmark high in the first meet of the season as he placed in the top-10 overall and was the first NCAA Division III finisher in both the 200-meter and 400-meter dashes as the Liberty Kickoff over the weekend. Tallman was seventh overall with a time of 23.02 seconds in the 200 dash, equaling his event winning time on the same track at the 2011 ODAC Indoor Championships. He placed 2nd overall in the 400 dash with a time of 50.57 seconds, which is .04 seconds faster than his winning time from last year's conference meet.

Janey Fugate, Washington and Lee, FreshmanDecember 05, 2011Fugate, a freshman from Atlanta, Ga., started out her collegiate career with a bang as she posted a pair of top-10 overall finishes amongst her three events at the Liberty Kickoff over the weekend. She was the first NCAA Division III finisher and placed third overall in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.26. She went on to be the second D-III finisher in the preliminaries of the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 9.91 seconds. Fugate joined Jennifer Friberg, Jillian Katterhagen and Lauren Woodie in the 4x400-meter relay in placing sixth overall and the first D-III squad to cross the line in 4:12.00.
