  • ODAC Athletes Close NCAA Track & Field Championships with Six All-American Awards

    The 2021 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships came to a close on Saturday, but not before ODAC student-athletes made some noise with a half-dozen All-American awards earned. In total, eight stars out of the conference's contingent of 16 qualifiers competed on Saturday.

    The NCAA Division III OUtdoor Track & Field Championships return to action following a year-long hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. ODAC schools will be well represented in Greensboro, N.C., with 16 conference stars heading to the Irwin Track & Field Complex on the campus of North Carolina A&T.
  • ODAC Announces 2021 All-ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Awards

    The ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships featured a bevy of school-record performances, personal-best marks, and even a few new conference benchmarks established. All those great showings provided a banner class for this season's All-ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Awards. This year's honors include several specials determined by a vote of the league's head coaches. Bridgewater College first-year Adalia Coleman not only took home ODAC Women's Rookie of the Year laurels, but she was also named the ODAC Women's Track Athlete of the Meet. University of Lynchburg thrower Elle Benefield was tabbed the ODAC Women's Field Athlete of the Meet. Longtime Bridgewater mentor Shane Stevens, who announced his retirement following the 2021 campaign, received ODAC Women's Coach of the Year recognition. Lynchburg distance runner Stephanie Burnett earned ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors from the league's athletic communications personnel. On the men's ledger, Eastern Mennonite University mid-distance runner Isaac Alderfer collected ODAC Men's Track Athlete of the Meet honors as well as ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete distinction. Virginia Wesleyan University jumper Geni Roberts received ODAC Men's Field Athlete of the Meet plaudits. Lynchburg mid-distance runner Sam Llaneza was tabbed the ODAC Men's Rookie of the Year.
  • Lynchburg Lifts Both ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Trophies

    The University of Lynchburg won 17 combined events on the way to capturing both the men's and women's titles at the ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The Hornets have now won an ODAC record 29 men's outdoor crowns, while the 2021 title ties Lynchburg's women's program with Roanoke College for the league's most trophies at 11.

    It has been more than a year since the ODAC conducted a track & field championship, but that hiatus comes to an end this weekend with the 2021 Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The University of Lynchburg will serve as hosts using the Dr. Jack Toms Track at Shellenberger Field as well as surrounding throwing areas on the Lynchburg-based campus.

  • Hollins Promotes Sullivan Jr. to Full-Time Cross Country/Track Coach

    Myra Sims, Hollins Director of Athletics, recently announced that Robert Sullivan Jr., current cross-country and track & field coach, has been promoted from part-time to full-time, starting Feb. 1. He will also be teaching two physical education classes.

    The ODAC checked in with Denver Davis on Friday to talk about all things track & field. Denver is in his 11th season overall at Bridgewater, having taken over as the Eagles' Director of Cross Country and Track & Field in November 2018. He gave us insight into the BC program, some of their outstanding athletes, the challenges of training and preparing for a season in our current climate, and the growth of the ODAC since his time as a student-athlete at Lynchburg.
