Milks Highlights Field Hockey AwardsDecember 06, 2011Lynchburg's Shelly Milks (pictured) earned recognition from a pair of outlets in annual postseason awards announcements. She was named a NFHCA First Team All-American and joined four of her teammates on the All-South Region Team. She was also tabbed the VaSID College Division Player of the Year, which also featured 14 other ODAC players and coaches.

Hornets Fall to TCNJ in Round ThreeNovember 13, 2011The Hornets national title hopes came to an end Sunday afternoon, as fourth-ranked Lynchburg College was defeated, 3-0, by #3 The College of New Jersey in the quarterfinals of the 2011 NCAA Division III Field Hockey Tournament, hosted by TCNJ. Lynchburg ends its season with a 19-2 record, with its only other loss coming in the season's first game in September.

Hornets Top Catholic in Second RoundNovember 12, 2011There are only eight teams left in the 2011 NCAA Division III Field Hockey Tournament, and fourth-ranked Lynchburg College is one of them. The Hornets defeated Catholic University, 2-0, in the second round of the tournament Saturday, hosted by the College of New Jersey. LC meets the Hornets on Sunday for a spot in the national semifinals.

Lynchburg Sweeps Field Hockey AwardsNovember 07, 2011LC earned all four major accolades as part of the 2011 All-ODAC Field Hockey Awards. Hornets’ midfielder Shelly Milks was named the ODAC Player of the Year and the ODAC/Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete. LC’s head coach, Enza Steele, earned the ODAC Coach of the Year award, while Katie Kline garnered the ODAC Rookie of the Year accolade.

Hornets Earn NCAA First Round ByeNovember 07, 2011Coming off its sixth-straight ODAC title, Lynchburg field hockey earned a bye in the first-round of the NCAA Division III Tournament. The Hornets, ranked #3 in the nation in the latest NFHCA poll, are one of eight seeded teams to earn a pass into the second round. LC will play either Catholic or Eastern on Saturday, Nov. 12 at The College of New Jersey in Ewing, N.J.

LC Claims ODAC Field Hockey CrownNovember 05, 2011Senior attack Tarah Rahner posted two goals Saturday afternoon as the Lynchburg College field hockey team defeated Randolph-Macon College 6-0 in the finals of the ODAC Tournament. The title marks the sixth straight for the Hornets.

Lynchburg Cruises Past EMU into ODAC FinalsNovember 02, 2011Lynchburg led just 1-0 at the half, but the Hornets tacked on three more tallies in the second frame to top Eastern Mennonite, 1-0, in the semifinals of the ODAC Tournament. LC will meet Randolph-Macon for the second straight year in the ODAC finals on Saturday in Lynchburg.

R-MC Scores OT Victory Over VWCNovember 02, 2011Lauren Seal scored off a penalty corner with six seconds remaining in overtime as Randolph-Macon advanced to a ODAC finals with a 4-3 win over Virginia Wesleyan. The Yellow Jackets will travel to Lynchburg for the second straight year to meet LC for the title.

Santiago Lifts EMU Over BC in OTOctober 30, 2011Adriana Santiago and Jenessa Derstine teamed up for two goals, including the game winner with 1:46 left in the first overtime, as EMU earned a dramatic ODAC quarterfinal win over Bridgewater Sunday afternoon. The fourth-seeded Royals move on to face #1 Lynchburg in the semifinals on Wednesday in Lynchburg.

VWC Knocks Off RC In QuartersOctober 29, 2011Virginia Wesleyan College broke open a tight game with two quick goals in the second half and never looked back in posting a 5-1 win over Roanoke College in a quarterfinal game of the 2011 ODAC Field Hockey Tournament. The third-seeded Marlins move on to face #2 Randolph-Macon in the semifinals on Wednesday in Ashland.

ODAC Field Hockey Pairings CompleteOctober 27, 2011Lynchburg College and Randolph-Macon College earned byes into the semifinals of the ODAC Field Hockey Tournament for the second-consecutive year in the sport’s six-team format. The Hornets garnered the top seed after winning each of their eight league contests. The Yellow Jackets enter the ODAC postseason as the second seed with a 6-2 league mark.

Leonard Earns National Weekly AwardSeptember 21, 2011On Tuesday, Synapse Sports named Lynchburg field hockey junior Lindsay Leonard Division III Player of the Week. Synapse Sports is a national website that covers field hockey, women's and men's lacrosse for Divisions I, II, and III. Leonard scored four goals with three assists last week, including a goal and a helper in a 2-1 upset of then top-ranked Messiah.

Lynchburg Tops ODAC Field Hockey PollAugust 23, 2011Lynchburg College received eight first place votes on the way to 64 poll points and the top position in the 2011 ODAC Field Hockey Preseason Poll. Randolph-Macon College secured second place with 53 tallies, two points clear of Washington and Lee University. The Generals earned the remaining top nod amongst their 51 points.
