  • ODAC Names Jopson, Berkley Winners
    June 10, 2011
    Three student-athletes earned the conference's top awards in a vote of the ODAC Board of Directors at the annual league meetings earlier this week. W&L's Greg Kurkis was recognized as the Doc Jopson Award winner. BC's Christina Rhodes and W&L's Emmy Mathews will share the Marge Berkely Award., marking the first tie in Berkely Award history.
  • Saluting the Fall Scholar-Athletes

    Seven student-athletes from Old Dominion Athletic Conference member schools earned a 2010 ODAC/Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete Award during the fall athletic schedule. Farm Bureau Insurance is the proud presenter of each award for the ODAC's 22 sponsored sports.
  • LC Milks Earns All-America Honors

    Lynchburg College sophomore midfielder Shelly Milks (Gloucester, VA/Gloucester) was named a second-team NCAA All-American Monday by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association. It is the third-straight season that a Hornet field hockey star achieved All-American status.
  • NFHCA Announces All-Region Teams

    The NFHCA announced its 2010 Longstreth/NFHCA Division III All-Region teams on Thursday afternoon and ODAC schools were well represented in the South Region. Lynchburg placed two players on the first team (including Jenny Weir, pictured) and one on the second team, while Bridgewater and Washington and Lee each had a player on the second team.
  • LC Bows Out of NCAA's to Messiah

    The top-ranked Messiah College field hockey team defeated Lynchburg College, 7-0, Saturday in the second round of the 2010 NCAA Division III Field Hockey Tournament. The Hornets finish their 2010 campaign with a 19-4 record following their fifth straight ODAC title.
  • Milks, Carper Head Field Hockey Awards

    LC placed three athletes on the All-ODAC First Team and earned one major award as part of the 2010 All-ODAC Field Hockey Awards. LC's Shelly Milks was named the Player of the Year. R-MC's Crystal Carper earned the Coach of the Year award. EMU’s Morgan Spicher was tabbed the Rookie of the Year, and W&L’s Emmy Mathews was selected as the scholar-athlete.
  • Weir's Goal Sends LC to Round Two

    Senior attack Jenny Weir (pictured) scored the game's only goal Wednesday as the Lynchburg College field hockey team defeated Christopher Newport University, 1-0, in the first round of the 2010 NCAA Division III Tournament. Next up for the Hornets is top-ranked Messiah this weekend.
  • LC Headed to CNU for NCAA 1st Round

    Lynchburg College learned its bracket position in the 2010 NCAA Division III Field Hockey Tournament. The Hornets will travel to CNU on Wednesday for their opening round matchup with the Captains. A victory would setup a rematch with top-ranked Messiah, which fell to LC earlier in the year as one of only two losses.
  • Lynchburg Wins Field Hockey Crown

    LYNCHBURG, VA - Freshman midfielder Kelli Williams scored the game's only two goals to lead the top-seeded Lynchburg field hockey team to a 2-0 victory over #2 Randolph-Macon College in the finals of the 2010 ODAC Championship tournament. It is the Hornets fifth-straight ODAC crown and the 14th in program history.

  • ODAC Field Hockey Pairings Complete

    Lynchburg College and Randolph-Macon College earned byes into the semifinals of the 2010 ODAC Field Hockey Tournament in the sport’s six-team format. The Hornets garnered the top seed after winning each of their seven league contests. The Yellow Jackets enter the ODAC postseason as the second seed.

    ODAC standings began to take shape as the fall season played through the fourth week of action. LC field hockey scored a major non-conference win with a 2-1 triumph over nationally top-ranked Messiah. Lindsay Leonard tallied both goals. EMU's Richy Bikko won his second cross country race at the Maroon Invitational, earning his second weekly honor.

    Sophomore attack Lindsay Leonard (pictured) scored both goals in the Hornets upset victory over #1 ranked Messiah College on Wednesday afternoon. Leonard notched her first goal with 3:13 left in regulation, and then added the game-winner with 4:22 left in OT off a penalty corner.

    Golf joined the fall sports roundup for the first time as ODAC competition kicked into action throughout the league. Performance continues to remain on-high, including a 12-point showing in field hockey from R-MC's Mary McCarthy, a second straight in cross country for W&L's Lauren Schultz, and more from each of the ODAC's fall sports.

    The second week of ODAC action saw several standout individual and team performances across all sports. Randolph-Macon volleyball moved to 8-0 with five wins over the past week.     In this ODAC Video Spotlight, we take a look at Lynchburg field hockey, which enters the 2010 on the heels of its fourth straight ODAC title and third consecutive trip to the NCAA second round. The Hornets topped the ODAC preseason poll and are rated 13th by the NFHCA. Interviews feature Enza Steele, Caitlin Gibb and Jenny Weir.

  • Hornets Top Field Hockey Preseason Poll

    Lynchburg College received six first place votes towards 61 total points to top the 2010 ODAC Field Hockey Preseason Poll, making the Hornets the favorite to win their fifth straight ODAC title. Washington and Lee University grabbed the remaining two first place votes and 54 points, and is followed closely by Eastern Mennonite University, which earned 53 poll points.
  • Banks Named RC Field Hockey Coach

    Roanoke Athletic Director Scott Allison has hired former Muhlenberg assistant coach Briana Banks as head coach of the Maroons field hockey program announced today. Banks is the fifth coach since winning the programs’ only ODAC Championship in 2002.
