    Recently crowned national champions Randolph-Macon College earned some additional hardware with the announcement of the end-of-season awards by D3hoops.com and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). Yellow Jackets playmaker and four-time ODAC Player of the Year Buzz Anthony was named the D3hoops.com Division III Player of the Year and earned First Team All-America laurels from both outlets. Teammate and forward Miles Mallory garnered All-America Second Team Honors. R-MC head coach Josh Merkel received Division III Coach of the Year honors from both sources.

    Junior Miles Mallory (Beltsville, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) had his 12t double-double of the season with 26 points and 17 rebounds, senior Buzz Anthony (Arnold, Md./Archbishop Molloy) had fifth double-double with 18 points and 12 assists, and sophomore Will Coble (Charlotte, N.C./Davidson Day) hit six three-pointers for 18 points, as the top-ranked Randolph-Macon men's basketball team defeated UMass Dartmouth 92-69 Friday evening in the third round of the NCAA Tournament to extend its win streak to 24 games and reach 30 wins for the first time.

    Junior Josh Talbert (Virginia Beach, Va./Kellam) led all scorers with 25 points, one away from his career high, and junior Miles Mallory (Beltsville, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) recorded his 11th double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds, as the top-ranked Randolph-Macon men's basketball team defeated Babson 67-51 Saturday evening in the second round of the NCAA Tournament to extend its win streak to 23 games and set the program record for victories in a season with 29.

    Randolph-Macon College earned three all-conference selections plus a trio of special individual honors to highlight the 2021-22 All-ODAC Men's Basketball Awards. Yellow Jackets guard Buzz Anthony in the first four-time player of the year in ODAC basketball history, regardless of gender. He claimed his fourth straight Kurt Axe Memorial Player of the Year award, while R-MC mentor Josh Merkel collected his fifth consecutive Bob Johnson Coach of the Year prize from his peers. Randolph-Macon forward Miles Mallory was tabbed the ODAC Defensive Player of the Year. Bridgewater College guard Shod Smith garnered ODAC Rookie of the Year laurels, while Roanoke College guard/forward Kasey Draper received ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year award from the league's athletic communications personnel.

    Nationally top-ranked Randolph-Macon College sprinted through the ODAC season with an unblemished 16-0 league record on the way to securing the top seed in the upcoming ODAC Men's Basketball Tournament. After a year away from its friendly confines, the ODAC Tournament returns to the Salem Civic Center for final-eight play following first round action on two campus sites at the beginning of the week. Competition is slated for Monday, February 21, at the seventh and eight seeds. The winners of those two games will join the top six seeds in Salem for traditional quarterfinal through championship competition beginning on Thursday, February 24.
