  • R-MC Tabs Burke to Lead Women's Basketball Program

    Lindsey Burke will become the fifth head coach in Randolph-Macon College women's basketball history, as announced by Director of Athletics Jeff Burns on Monday afternoon.
  • ODAC Partnership with V-Foundation and Kay Yow Cancer Fund Remains Strong

    Prior to the 2019-20 Division III basketball seasons, the Old Dominion Athletic Conference announced a continued partnership with the V Foundation for Cancer Research and the Kay Yow Cancer Fund for supporting cancer research. For the third consecutive year, the ODAC men’s and women’s basketball programs spearheaded initiatives on their respective campuses in conjunction with select home games. Through those events, conference schools generated $8,900 of charitable donations to support both organizations, as well as a few other subsidiaries and causes. In the first three years of the partnership, more than $22,000 has been raised.

    Randolph-Macon College center Kelly Williams put the cherry on top of an impressive career and comeback story from a season-ending injury a year ago as she was named an All-American by D3hoops.com earlier this week. Williams, who was named to the All-America Fourth Team, is the lone ODAC representative on the pundit's four squads plus honorable mention list.

    Randolph-Macon Women's Basketball's tournament run has come to a close after a Saturday evening loss to #8 Oglethorpe. Senior Kelly Williams (Garysburg, N.C./Halifax Academy) closed the final game of her career with 29 points and 15 rebounds, while senior Michal Ross (Glen Allen, Va./Glen Allen) finished her career with exactly 1,000 points.
  • Randolph-Macon Stuns Ninth-Ranked Transylvania in NCAA First Round

    Randolph-Macon Women's Basketball upset the ninth-ranked team in the nation Friday night, advancing through the First Round of the NCAA Tournament and setting up a rematch with a familiar foe and another ranked opponent tomorrow night. R-MC earned the win on the home floor and hosts, the Transylvania Pioneers. Four Yellow Jackets were in double-figures on the night as the Yellow Jackets trailed very few minutes in the contest.

    Randolph-Macon College completed an end-to-end run to the 2020 ODAC Women's Basketball Tournament crown on Sunday afternoon in Salem, Va., as the fourth-seeded Yellow Jackets never trailed in topping seventh-seeded Guilford College, 68-50.
  • R-MC's Williams, E&H's Dickens Headline All-ODAC Women's Basketball Awards

    Randolph-Macon College center Kelly Williams and Emory & Henry College mentor Jaclyn Dickens headline the 2020 All-ODAC Women's Basketball Awards, as announced by the ODAC Wednesday afternoon. Williams earned ODAC Player of the Year laurels in addition to receiving ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors. Dickens was tabbed the ODAC Coach of the Year. Bridgwater College guard Madison Baum and Emory & Henry guard Peyton Williams shared ODAC Defensive Player of the Year recognition, marking the second season for the sport's newest award. University of Lynchburg forward Abby Oguich collected ODAC Rookie of the Year accolades.

  • ODAC Women's Basketball Tournament | Four Ties Dot Final Standings

    Ties aplenty dominate the final ODAC women's basketball standings, including each of the top-six positions in the ODAC Women's Basketball Tournament field. Four separate ties dictated team placement with Saturday's results playing a major part in setting up the 10-team postseason bracket. Emory & Henry College knew it needed a win on the final day to lockdown the tournament's first seed. That's just what the South Region's second-ranked team did as the Wasps win over Bridgewater College put them into a stalemate with Washington and Lee University for top-billing. E&H's overtime victory over the Generals in the regular season provided the determining factor, with W&L entering the tourney as the second team.

    The Old Dominion Athletic Conference is proud to continue its association with the V Foundation for Cancer Research and the Kay Yow Cancer Fund for the third consecutive year.  As has been done for the two previous seasons, each of the basketball-sponsoring member institutions will highlight a game associated with the V Foundation, Play4Kay, or an associated focus for one of its home games.  The ODAC looks to build upon the momentum of the previous two years.

  • ODAC Women's Basketball Poll | Guilford Tops ODAC Chart

    The last time the top-ranked team in the ODAC preseason poll won the conference title was in 2016-17 when Guilford College stood at the top. Quakers fans will hope the same holds true this season. Guilford is one of three teams to earn first place consideration in the 2019-20 ODAC Women's Basketball Preseason Poll, with the Quakers topping the annual coaches' survey with 139 points including seven first place votes. Washington and Lee University, last year's conference runner-up, sits second with 127 markers including three top nods. Randolph-Macon College landed the remaining three first place votes on the way to 123 tallies. Four teams are separated by just seven points in the second of four distinct segments to the poll results. University of Lynchburg is fourth with 99 points, while Emory & Henry College and Roanoke College tied for fifth with 95 points. Last season's conference champion, Shenandoah University, chimes in seventh with 92 points.

The Hornets' Director of Athletic Training Services is all-conference on the sidelines, helping Lynchburg's new crop of student-athletes reach their potential.

    The Randolph College Athletics department announced on Friday that it has selected Steve Lanpher as the next head coach of the women's basketball program. Lanpher assumes his post on Monday.
  • Jayla Harris to Represent VWU, ODAC as NCAA Woman of the Year Nominee

    Jayla Harris of the Virginia Wesleyan University women’s basketball team has been named a 2019 NCAA Woman of the Year nominee. Nominated by Virginia Wesleyan, Harris was then selected as the Woman of the Year representative by the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) making her just one of 149 female student-athletes to receive this honor across all three NCAA Divisions.
