  • ODAC Announces Jopson and Berkley Award Winners
    June 02, 2014
    One school received its record 19th season-ending individual honor while the other earned just its second such prize as the ODAC Board of Directors announced its top two individual student-athlete awards on Monday. Washington and Lee University cross country and track star Annelise Madison was recognized as the Marjorie Berkley Award recipient, while Guilford College baseball standout John Macon Smith took home the Harry G. "Doc" Jopson Award.
  • SU's Paul Two Times an All-American to Lead ODAC Baseball Awards

    Shenandoah University third baseman Michael Paul has collected a full mantle's worth of awards in 2014 as he leads a long list of ODAC baseball stars to earn postseason awards from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and D3baseball.com. Paul was tabbed an All-American by both outlets and is joined by Guilford College first baseman John Macon Smith in garnering All-American recognition from the ABCA.
  • Bridgewater Falls to Emory in South Region Title Game

    Emory wiped out an early 2-1 deficit with three runs in the bottom of the fourth and went on to defeat Bridgewater 5-2 to win the NCAA South Region title game. The loss ends the Eagles dramatic postseason run that began in the ODAC tournament when BC defeated nationally-ranked Shenandoah twice on the final day to win the conference title and qualify for the NCAA tournament.
  • Shenandoah Eliminated from NCAA Baseball Regionals with Loss to Emory
    May 17, 2014
    No. 13/16 Shenandoah University saw its baseball season come to an end Saturday afternoon with a 12-8 loss to No. 22 Emory University in the loser's bracket final of the Demorest Regional. Emory (32-11) scored eight runs in the first to provide enough offense to down the Hornets (33-11) and advance to the regional championship against Bridgewater.
  • Emory Tops Bridgewater, Forces Regional Title-Deciding Game on Sunday

    Emory University forced the "if" game in the NCAA South Region tournament by rolling to an 11-3 victory Saturday afternoon over Bridgewater at Piedmont College's Loudermilk Field. The two teams will play again Sunday with the South Region title on the line. Game time is still to be determined due to rain in the forecast.
  • Bridgewater Advances in NCAA Baseball Play with Win Over Emory
    May 16, 2014
    Bridgewater rode a strong start from senior Kyle Henshaw to a 7-4 victory over Emory in the NCAA South Region tournament at Piedmont College's Loudermilk Field. The victory sets up an all-ODAC showdown in the winner's bracket as the Eagles will meet Shenandoah for the sixth time this season. The Eagles-Shenandoah contest will begin at 5:45 Friday afternoon.
  • Claudio Goes 11 Frames to Pitch Hornets to NCAA Win
    May 16, 2014
    Shenandoah starter Vince Claudio allowed four runs and four in the first five innings, but he held Birmingham-Southern without a hit over the next six frames on the way to a 5-4 11-inning complete game victory in the Hornets' second game of NCAA regional play. SU moves on to play at 5:00 p.m. against the winner of Bridgewater vs. Emory.
  • Bridgewater Advances to Regional Title Game with Win Over Shenandoah

    Bridgewater scored two runs in the top of the eighth inning to break a 3-3 tie and relievers Tyler Slanovec and Dillon Via blanked Shenandoah over the final two innings as the Eagles finished off the 5-3 victory to emerge as the lone undefeated team left in the South Region tournament.
  • Shenandoah Downs Covenant in NCAA Baseball Opener
    May 14, 2014
    No. 13/16 Shenandoah University opened up the Demorest Regional Wednesday afternoon with an 11-3 victory over sixth-seeded Covenant (Ga.). The top-seeded Hornets, 32-9, scored at least one run in four of the first five innings to seize control of the game over the Scots (26-14).
  • Bridgewater Tops Birmingham-Southern in 12 Innings in NCAA Opener
    May 14, 2014
    Bridgewater scored an unearned run in the top of 12th inning Thursday at Piedmont's Loudermilk Field to defeat Birmingham Southern 1-0 in the completion of a first-round game that was halted by rain on Wednesday evening. With the victory BC advances in the winner's bracket to play Emory University, the tournament's No.2 seed. Friday's game time will be announced later this evening.
  • Bridgewater, Shenandoah Headed to Piedmont for NCAA Baseball Regionals

    Bridgewater College was joined by Shenandoah University in the NCAA Division III Baseball Tournament on Monday afternoon, and the two foes will both play out of the same regional pod. The Eagles and Hornets will make their way to Piedmont College to compete in a six-team double-elimination grouping. Action begins on Wednesday, May 14.

  • Eagles Top Shenandoah to Claim ODAC Baseball Title

    Tyler Hoffman gave Bridgewater the lead with a two-run double in the top of the eighth inning and Robert Gallet and Corey Armentrout kept Shenandoah off the board in the final two innings as the Eagles claimed the 2014 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) baseball championship Sunday with a 6-5 victory over Shenandoah at City Stadium. The ODAC title is the 14th in program history and the first since the 2010 season
  • SU's Paul, Thompson, Anderson Head ODAC Baseball Awards

    In just its second year under the ODAC banner, Shenandoah baseball has made its mark in the conference as the Hornets take home three major honors as part of the All-ODAC Baseball Awards. Third baseman Michael Paul and starter Darrell Thompson were named the ODAC Player and Pitcher of the Year, respectively, while mentor Kevin Anderson received ODAC Coach of the Year recognition. Randolph-Macon designated hitter Nicholas Maiolo picked up ODAC Rookie of the Year accolades, and Guilford first baseman John Macon Smith was tabbed the ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete.

  • ODAC Baseball Tournament Seeds Set

    Shenandoah University (28-7 overall, 17-3 in ODAC play) put together a 17-win season in league play to secure the program's first ODAC baseball top seed heading into the upcoming tournament at City Stadium in Lynchburg. The Hornets athletic programs are in their second seasons playing under the ODAC banner.

  • Bridgewater Leads ODAC Baseball Preseason Poll
    January 30, 2014
    Bridgewater College received eight first place votes as part of 98 total poll points as the Eagles sit atop the 2014 ODAC Baseball Preseason Poll. Shenandoah University picked up one top nod towards 88 tallies, just three points clear of Randolph-Macon College in third. The Yellow Jackets secured the remaining two first place votes in the annual coach's survey.
