  • DRAFTED! R-MC's Selby and SU's Morse Selected in Major League Baseball Draft

    A pair of ODAC standout right-handers had a new door opened for them earlier this week in the annual Major League Baseball first-year player draft. Randolph-Macon College junior Colin Selby and Shenandoah University senior Colin Morse were selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates and Washington Nationals, respectively, on Wednesday.

    Sophomore Ryan Duphorn (Erial, N.J./Paul VI) went 3 for 4 with one run and three RBI as the top-seeded Randolph-Macon baseball team fell 8-6 to No. 5 Texas-Tyler Monday afternoon at the NCAA Division III World Series at Fox Cities Stadium.
  • Yellow Jackets Advance with Win Over Misericordia

    Senior Cole Migliorini (Stafford, Va./Colonial Forge) and junior Cole Grinde (Woodford, Va/Caroline) combined for six hits, four runs and seven RBI as the top-seeded Randolph-Macon baseball team defeated No. 8 Misericordia 14-6 in an elimination game Sunday morning at Fox Cities Stadium on Day 3 of the NCAA Division III World Series.

    Senior Rick Spiers (South Chesterfield, Va./Matoaca) lined an inside-the-park home run and drove in four as the top-seeded Randolph-Macon baseball team fifth-seeded Texas-Tyler 6-1 Sunday evening at Fox Cities Stadium on Day 3 of the NCAA Division III Baseball Championship.

    Junior Jeff Butler (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch) recorded his first collegiate 5-hit game, and junior Nick Roth (Henrico, Va./Benedictine) hurled seven solid innings as the top-seeded Randolph-Macon baseball team registered an 11-4 victory over No. 4 Oswego State in an elimination game Saturday morning on Day 2 of the 2018 NCAA Division III Baseball Championship at Fox Cities Stadium.

    Sophomore outfielder Ryan Duphorn (Erial, N.J./Paul VI) and sophomore third baseman Michael Nickles (Stafford, Va./Colonial Forge) combined to reach base nine times and with seven hits between them as the top-seeded Randolph-Macon baseball team fell 4-2 to No. 8 Misericordia Friday afternoon on Day 1 of the 2018 NCAA Division III Baseball Championship. in front of 1.092 fans at Fox Cities Stadium.
  • Virginia Wesleyan Bows Out After Setting Program Wins Record

    The Virginia Wesleyan University baseball team finished out is year Sunday afternoon, defeating No. 2 Rowan University before being eliminated by Misericordia University. The squad knocked out the Owls 9-6 in game one of the day before falling to the Cougars 14-4. With the results, the Marlins cap their season with a record of 31-16, finishing with a program record three wins in the NCAA Division III Championship.
  • Randolph-Macon Wins Regional, Headed to NCAA Championship Series

    The top-seeded Randolph-Macon baseball team topped fourth-seeded Christopher Newport 11-2 Sunday afternoon at Ting Stadium to win its first NCAA Regional title and earn its first trip to the Division III College World Series. This marks the second straight year that an ODAC team will make an appearance in the tournament finals following the run by Roanoke College in 2017.

    Sixth-seeded Ithaca College scored six runs in the final three innings Saturday to rally for a 7-5 elimination round victory over No. 16 Shenandoah University.

    Sophomore Reece Yeargain (Richmond, Va./Benedictine) ripped a two-run homer in the sixth as the top-seeded Randolph-Macon baseball team went ahead to stay in a 4-3 win over No. 4 Christopher Newport Saturday on Day 3 of the NCAA Tournament's South Regional at Ting Stadium.
  • Marlins Get 30th Win, Advance in Baseball Regionals

    The Virginia Wesleyan University baseball team survived another day the NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Regional as the squad downed Union College, 10-4, Saturday evening at People's Bank Park. The win puts the Marlins at 30-15 on the year, reaching the 30-win mark for the first time since 2004. The squad will now face off with the top-seeded Rowan at 1:15 p.m. on Sunday in another win-or-go-home match up.
  • Marlins Hold Off Castelton to Continue in Regional Play

    The Virginia Wesleyan University baseball team survived another day at the NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Regional Friday afternoon as it defeated Castleton University, 4-3, at People's Bank Park. With the win, the Marlins move to 29-15 on the season.

  • Virginia Wesleyan Comes Up Short in Regional Opener

    The Virginia Wesleyan University baseball team fell, 4-1, to Misericordia University Thursday afternoon in the team's first game of the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional. With the loss, the squad moves to 28-15 on the season and will square off against the loser of the Castleton and Rowan on at 10 a.m. Friday.

    Roanoke College outfielder Sean Guida and Randolph-Macon College right-hander Colin Selby headline the 2018 All-ODAC Baseball Awards as the pair were named ODAC Player and Pitcher of the Year, respectively. R-MC mentor Ray Hedrick received ODAC Coach of the Year honors from his peers, while Maroons designated hitter Will Salva earned ODAC Rookie of the Year recognition. Eastern Mennonite University multi-positional athlete Damon Frazier garnered ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete laurels from the conference's sports information directors.

    Randolph-Macon College picked up a win on the final day of the regular season to lock up the top position in the league table and secure the #1 seed in the upcoming ODAC Baseball Tournament. A pair of ties helped dictate the remainder of the tournament field, which sees an increase in size by two teams in 2018.
