Tigers are National Runners-Up, W&L Places Eighth at NCAA Men's Golf Championships
May 13, 2022Hampden-Sydney College posted what is believed to be a school-record four round total of 1,176 strokes to finish as the national runner-up to top-ranked Methodist University at the 2022 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships at Mission Inn Resort in Howey-In-The-Hills, Fla. The Tigers, ranked 18th in the country entering the weekend, posted round totals of 296-293-296-291 on the way to the program's second runner-up showing. H-SC donned silver in 1975, the same season that Charles Baskervill earned individual medalist honors. The ODAC team champions not the only conference squad to finish in the top-10 as 15th-ranked Washington and Lee University (298-310-298-295) slotted eighth at 55-over 1,203. That is the second-lowest 72-hole team total in Generals history. First-year Nick Rubino tied for third overall at 1-under 286 (71-71-74-70), the best Tigers' individual placing since Baskervill's victory. Rubino led the field in par-4 scoring (4.0) on the way to tying with JF Aber (70-75-69-72) from Wittenberg University. The pair were just one shot back of second-place finisher Will Hocker (71-74-70-70) from Webster College and three off the pace set by champion Andre Chi (73-70-70-70) from Methodist University. -
W&L Places 13th, Kanaby Ties for Seventh at NCAA Women's Golf Championships
May 13, 2022The Washington and Lee women's golf team finished in solo 13th-place at the NCAA Division III Championship at at Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston, Texas. The Generals, ranked 10th in the country entering the four-round affair, posted a 92-over team scored of 1244 with rounds of 309, 301, 322, and 312, sequentially. The 1244 set the program record for team total in a four-round tournament by 32 strokes, surpassing the 1276 W&L posted at the 2019 NCAA Championship. Junior Megan Kanaby, the 37th-ranked women's golfer in Division III by Golfstat, completed the tournament with a 73-73-76-71—293 (+5) that was just four strokes behind the NCAA Individual Champion, Ellen Dong of Emory University. Dong carded a +1 score of 75-68-72-74—289 and claimed the title in a one-hole playoff with Alison Takamiya of George Fox. -
ODAC Announces All-ODAC Men's Golf Awards
May 02, 2022Washington and Lee University and Guilford College collected a league-high four all-conference honors each with ODAC champion Hampden-Sydney College securing three selections to award teams to headline the 2022 All-ODAC Men's Golf Awards. University of Lynchburg first-year Eddie Coffren V doubled as the ODAC Golfer of the Year and ODAC Rookie of the Year. Hampden-Sydney mentor Chad Eisele earned Jack Jensen Coach of the Year honors. Washington and Lee junior Pierce Robinson earn the ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year award, and H-SC senior John Hatcher Ferguson was tabbed the Ted Keller Sportsman of the Year. -
NCAA Announces Division III Golf Tournament Fields
May 02, 2022The ODAC will be well-represented in the NCAA golf tournaments slated for later this month with three teams and a pair of individual qualifiers dotting the national fields. Automatic qualifier Washington and Lee University will be the lone ODAC team to participate in the Division III Women's Golf Championships, but the Generals will be joined by conference individual champion Emily Brubaker from the University of Lynchburg. In the men's competition, league champion Hampden-Sydney College enter the field with two at-large selections in Lynchburg first-year Eddie Coffren V and the entire Washington and Lee squad. -
Hampden-Sydney Hoists Team Trophy, Martin Captures Individual Men's Golf Medal
May 01, 2022Hampden-Sydney College went wire-to-wire in capturing the program's title at the 2022 ODAC Men's Golf Championship, snapping a trophy drought that dates back to 1996. The Tigers posted a season-low 846 (282-281-283) to finish at 6-under par following 54 holes of competition at Old Trail Golf Club in Crozet. H-SC senior Hunter Martin claimed medalist honor, topping an individual leaderboard that saw seven players finish under par. Martin chimed it at 5-under 208 with all three rounds in red numbers (70-69-69) on the way to a one stroke victory over Michael Vick (72-68-69) from Guilford College and Jackson Hoovler (71-68-70) from Ferrum College. -
ODAC Announces All-ODAC Women's Golf Awards
April 26, 2022Fresh off claiming its fourth straight ODAC women's golf championship, Washington and Lee University again dominated the All-ODAC Women's Golf Awards. Five Generals picked up all-league laurels with a pair of special accolades going to blue & white individuals. University of Lynchburg sophomore Emily Brubaker earned both ODAC Golfer of the Year honors from the league's head coaches and ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete distinction from the ODAC's athletic communications personnel. -
W&L Lifts Fourth ODAC Women's Golf Trophy, LYN's Brubaker Wins Individual Medal
April 26, 2022Washington and Lee University put its foot on the pedal in round three at the ODAC Women's Golf Championship as the Generals set the conference single-round team record for a second time in three days on the way to hoisting their fourth straight ODAC women's golf trophy at The Dominion Club in Glen Allen, Va. The Generals final round 300 surpassed their 301 from day. When combined with a 308 from the second round, W&L finished at 45-over par 909 -- the lowest 3-day championship total in league history -- to out-pace second place University of Lynchburg by 24 strokes at 933 (319-307-307). Bridgewater College rounded out the top-three at 81-over 945 (315-317-313). Lynchburg sophomore Emily Brubaker proved steady is best as she fired her second straight even-par 72 to capture the ODAC individual medal. It is the fourth time she has stood atop a leaderboard this season. Brubaker's 4-over 200 (76-72-27) was four shots clear of W&L junior Megan Kanaby (75-75-74) and second leader Sophia Martone (73-72-79) from Bridgewater at 8-over 224. -
Previewing the ODAC Women's Golf Championships
April 24, 2022For the first time in ODAC history, the conference golf championships will be competed at separate venues on different dates in 2022. The postseason begins with the ODAC Women's Golf Championship this weekend with first round action slated for Sunday, April 24. The Dominion Club in Glen Allen, Va., serves as the host for this year's 54-hole event that runs through Tuesday afternoon. Competitors will enjoy a custom layout set to a par of 72 set to 5,638 yards. The first of 11 groups (separated by 9 minutes) tees off hole #1 at 12:30 p.m. ET on Sunday. -

April 20, 2022The final week of the regular season is here with just men's golf competing in Week 33 ahead of its championship in 11 days. Women's golf started gearing up last week for its championship event set for this coming weekend into early next week. Four conference teams competed at the season-ending Discover Dekalb Emory Invite last week with nationally 15th-ranked Washington and Lee tying for second behind strong play from its five-man team including tournament runner-up and the final ODAC Men's Golfer of the Week, Pierce Robinson. -

April 13, 2022The end of the 2021-22 golf season is drawing ever closer. Only the ODAC Golf Championships remain on the women's schedule following action in Week 32. ODAC men's golfers has one more week of events before gearing up for their edition of the conference championships. Three events combined dotted the ODAC men's and women's golf schedules over the past week with conference golfers stationed about two leaderboards. Earning this weeks ODAC Golfer of the Week awards are Hampden-Sydney's Trevor Elliott and Lynchburg's Emily Brubaker. Elliott won the Gold Championship at Camp LeJeune, while Brubaker tied for first at the Greenbrier Collegiate Invite before finishing as the runner-up following the first playoff hole. -

April 06, 2022Week 31 of ODAC golf only featured three combined tournaments amongst the league's men's and women's ranks, but many teams and athletes took part in those events. Efforts were highlighted by a pair of team victories for Lynchburg's women and Hampden-Sydney's men. This week's ODAC Golfers of the Week placed highly on their respective leaderboards. The Hornets' Emily Brubaker earned her third medal of the season and fifth of her career by winning the Historic Triangle Invitational. The Tigers' Brian Polinchok posted his second top-five showing of the year after finishing as the runner-up at the Tiger Spring Tournament. -

Both of this week's winners came from strong showings at the Hill City Invitational hosted by the University of Lynchburg on Monday and Tuesday. October 20, 2021The second-to-last week of the ODAC fall golf season featured a trio of tournaments in which conference golfers featured well. The men's ranks featured a strong national field as well as the state tournament put on the VSGA. Women's golf participated in the same national tournament hosted by Golfweek as the men's players. The ODAC Golfers of the Week for week seven both showed well in strong national fields at their respective Golfweek events in Destin, Fla. Lynchburg's Eddie Coffren, V earns his third weekly award of the season, while fellow Hornet Emily Brubaker collects her second honor. -

That included some strong national fields where conference teams bested some of NCAA Division III's top programs.
