Olivia Anson, Emory & Henry, Sr.
January 27, 2020Anson, a senior from Apex, N.C., closes out her final regular season in Emory with her first ODAC weekly award of the season after helping the Wasps to a 124-51 victory over Sweet Briar. Anson posted a pair of ODAC top-20 times in winning two individual events and also aid her teammates in a relay victory. She won the 200-meter individual medley by 25-seconds in 2:38.00. That time converts to 2:22.34 for ODAC rankings purposes and would sit 18th on the league chart. She also claimed the 100-meter butterfly event by more than 10-seconds in 1:09.50, which converts to 1:02.61 and ranks 17th in the conference. Anson and her teammates won the 400-meter freestyle relay in 4:42.37 (conversion unavailable). -
Kevin Bennett, Lynchburg, Fy.
January 27, 2020Bennett, a first-year from Fredericksburg, Va., picks up his second weekly award of the season as he helped Lynchburg close its inaugural regular season with a tri-meet victory over Ferrum and Southern Virginia. Bennett set new program records in the 1,000-yard freestyle and as a member of the winning 400-yard freestyle relay. He crossed the line in 10:54.04 in the 1000-free, a mark which sits 12th in the ODAC. He also won the 100-yard backstroke in 0:56.96 and placed second in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:05.34. Bennett's split of 0:52.17 helped the Hornets to a time of 3:23.07 in the 400-free relay, which sits fourth in the conference. -
Victor Kontopanos, Randolph-Macon, Jr.
January 20, 2020Kontopanos, a junior from North Chesterfield, Va., put together a strong week in Randolph-Macon's back-to-back-to-back dual meet week. Kontopanos won six total individual events, added a win in a relay, and helped his Yellow Jackets teammates to second in two more relays as R-MC posted wins over Lynchburg (106-90) and Randolph (97-51) and fell to Catholic (176-86). Against Lynchburg, Kontopanos won the 200-yard freestyle and 200-yard butterfly events in 1:47.15 and 1:58.19, respectively. Both of those times would slot inside the ODAC's top-10. Kontopanos owns previous best times of third and first in those two events. He helped his teammates to second in the 400-yard medley relay in 3:46.53. Against Randolph, Kontopanos won the 100-yard butterfly and 500-yard freestyle disciplines in 0:52.96 and 4:55.30. His 100-fly time is just off his previous ODAC third-best mark, while his 500-free time is seventh in the league. He added one more win in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:33.62. Against Catholic, Kontopanos again stopped the watches first in the 100-yard and 200-yard butterfly events, posting times of 0:53.06 and 1:58.21. Those both would be ODAC top-five marks. He and his teammates placed second in the 200-medley relay in 1:42.27. -
Maggie Cooke, Randolph-Macon, So.
January 20, 2020Cooke, a sophomore from Newport News, Va., competed in 10 events over three dual meets competed over three straight days and claimed nine total first place finishes in the Yellow Jackets 3-0 week. She won five individual events and added four victories and one second place showing as Randolph-Macon posted team triumphs of 111-85 over Lynchburg, 134-127 over Catholic, and 94-32 over Randolph. Against the Hornets, Cooke won the 50-yard freestyle in 0:25.52 and then helped her teammates win the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:45.34 and place second in the 400-yard medley relay in 4:12.64. Versus Catholic, Cooke against won the 50-free and added a triumph in the 100-yard freestyle in 0:25.66 and 0:56.97, respectively. She and her teammates on the 200-yard medley and 400-yard freestyle relays in 1:52.36 and 3:50.50. Against Randolph, Cooke claimed her third 50-free win of the week in 0:25.86 and added a 100-yard backstroke victory in 1:03.64. She tacked on one more W with a time of 1:54.97 in the 200-medley relay. -
Emily Hageboeck, Washington and Lee, Sr.
January 13, 2020Hageboeck, a senior from Charleston, W.Va., had no problem with an extended break with the flip of the calendar as the Generals' All-American posted four event wins and helped Washington and Lee to a relay victory over a pair of dual meet victories. Hageboeck posted ODAC top-three times in each swim, beginning with victories in the 200-yard breaststroke and 400-yard individual medley in W&L's 174-62 triumph over St. Mary's (Md.). She finished with times of 2:23.37 and 4:43.61, respectively. Then in a 158-40 win over VMI, Hageboeck again won the 200-breaststroke in 2:29.07 and added a win in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:07.51. She helped her teammates win the 200-yard medley relay in 1:49.14 -
Patrick Sullivan, Washington and Lee, Jr.
January 13, 2020Sullivan, a junior from Pawleys Island, S.C., guided the Generals to a pair of dual wins over the last two Saturdays. That includes a 159-70 triumph over St. Mary's (Md.) on January 4 and a 180-82 victory over VMI on January 11. He posted five individual wins and two relay first place finishes. Sullivan won the 100-yard butterfly on both weekends, topping out at 0:52.30 against St. Mary's and 0:52.47 against VMI. He also won the 400-yard individual medley in 4:24.69 against the Seahawks. Against the Keydets, Sullivan added wins in the 100-yard (45.82) and 200-yard freestyles in 0:45.82 and 1:43.48, as his 100-free set a new pool record. Sullivan was also part of the winning 200-yard freestyle relay (1:25.26) against SMC and the 200-yard medley relay (1:35.39) against VMI. -
Peyton Murphy, Sweet Briar, Fy.
December 09, 2019Murphy, a first-year from Norfolk, Va., posted a trio of individual event victories and aided the Vixens in one relay win as Sweet Briar topped both Gallaudet (166-80) and Guilford (130-125) in a double-dual meet. Murphy won the 200-meter freestyle in 2:33.52. She again stopped the timers first in the 200-meter butterfly in 2:57.42 and the 200-meter individual medley in 2:49.11. Her converted 200-fly time ranks 22nd in the ODAC. Murphy swam the anchor leg of the winning 200-meter freestyle relay team, which posted a time of 2:11.18. -
Zach Stephan, Hampden-Sydney, Jr.
December 09, 2019Stephan, a junior from Hampton, Va., put together a strong showing as he helped Hampden-Sydney defeat Gallaudet, 178-73, in a dual meet last week. He is the first Tiger to earn an ODAC men's swimmer of the week award. Stephan won two individual events and finished second in a third. He also helped the Tigers win a relay. Stephan placed first in the 100-meter backstroke in 1:06.05 in addition to winning the 100-meter freestyle in 0:56.11. He added a second place showing in the 200-meter backstroke in 2:35.22. Stephan swam a leg of the winning 200-meter medley relay, which stopped the watches at 2:02.31. -
Emily Hageboeck, Washington and Lee, Sr.
November 25, 2019Hageboeck, a senior from Charleston, W.Va., propelled No. 14 W&L to a first-place finish out of 11 teams at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational over the weekend with three individual wins -- including two NCAA "B" cut qualification times - and two relay wins. Hageboecks individual wins came in the 400-yard IM (4:29.51), 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.74), and 200-yard breaststroke (2:19.55), while she helped the 200-yard (1:45.20) and 400-yard medley relays (3:51.13) to wins as well. Hageboeck's times in the 200-breaststroke, 400-IM, and 100-breaststroke are currently the second-, fifth- and sixth-fastest times, respectively, in Division III this season, while the 400 medley relay and 200 medley relay are the fourth- and fifth-fastest in the nation. All three individual times are top marks in the ODAC. -
Patrick Sullivan, Washington and Lee, Jr.
November 25, 2019Sullivan, a junior from Pawleys, S.C., helped the Generals to a fourth-place finish out of 10 teams at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational, compiling a third and two fifth place finishes individually, while helping relays to one win, a runner-up performance, and two fourth-place finishes. Sullivan was third in the 100-yard freestyle in 0:46.04 and added fifth-place efforts in the 50-yard freestyle (0:21.18) and 200-yard freestyle (1:41.55). In the relays, Sullivan helped the 400-yard medley relay (3:24.51) to a win, the 200-yard medley relay (1:32.98) to a second-place finish, and the 200-yard (1:25.42) and 400-yard freestyle relays (3:09.03) to fourth-place showings. The time of 1:32.98 posted by the 200-medley relay is currently the ninth-fastest time in Division III this season. His 200-free time is now tops in the ODAC, while his 50-free and 100-free times are second only to his previous season-best marks. -
Caroline Baber, Washington and Lee, So.
November 18, 2019Baber, a sophomore from Richmond, Va., put together a strong showing in the nationally 16th-ranked Generals 163-99 setback to #10 Carnegie Mellon. Baber won the 200-yard individual medley and established a new ODAC top-time in the process in 2:10.96. She added a win in the 50-yard freestyle in 0:24.98, which is behind her previous conference second-best time (0:24.82). She added a win in the 200-freestyle in 1:59.78, which is fourth in the conference. Baber swam the second leg on W&L's 200-yard freestyle relay team, which placed second in 1:39.63. That time is second only to its previous ODAC-best mark (1:39.46). -
Danny Lynch, Washington and Lee, Jr.
November 18, 2019Lynch, a junior from Richmond, Va., picks up his second weekly award of the season with a quartet of strong swims despite Washington and Lee's 178-79 setback against nationally ninth-ranked Carnegie Mellon. Lynch won the 200-yard individual medley in 1:59.38, which is second in the ODAC only to his previous season-best mark (1:57.81). He is the only conference swimmer to crack the two-minute mark in the event this season. Lynch placed second in the 100-yard backstroke in 0:52.93, against second-best in the league to himself (0:52.53). He also finished fourth in the 200-yard backstroke in 1:59.52. That is second in the conference to his previous season-best showing (1:55.52). He is the only ODAC swimmer to record a sub-2:00 time in the event this year. Lynch swam the lead leg on the Generals' 200-yard medley relay team, which placed third in 1:35.87, the fastest time in the ODAC this year. -
Alyssa Reed, Lynchburg, Gr.
November 11, 2019Reed, a grad student from Forest, Va., picks up her second weekly award of the season after winning three individual events and helping Lynchburg to a relay victory in the Hornets triumph at the Lynchburg Invitational. Lynchburd defeated Sweet Briar, Virginia Wesleyan, and Southern Virginia. Reed won the 50-yard freestyle in 0:25.11, the 100-yard butterfly in 0:59.15, and the 200-yard individual medley in 2:19.52. Her 50-free and 200-IM times are ranked fourth in the ODAC, while her 200-fly time is sixth in the league. Reed also swam the backstroke leg (1:00.80) of the 400-yard medley relay team, which won in 4:14.59. -
Parker Hayungs, Lynchburg, Fy.
November 11, 2019Hayungs, a first-year from Fredericksburg, Va., put together a strong day in leading Lynchburg to a first place finish at the Lynchburg Invitational. The Hornets competed against Hampden-Sydney, Virginia Wesleyan, and Southern Virginia. Hayungs won a trio of individual events and helped the Hornets claim a relay title. He won the 100-yard and 200-yard freestyle events in 0:50.84 and 1:49.16. He added a triumph in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:03.03 and swam a 0:50.76 split on the anchor leg of the winning 400-yard freestyle, which stopped the watches at 3:25.01. All four results are season-highs for Lynchburg. The relay time is slotted fourth in the league. His 200-free time is fifth in the ODAC, while his 100-free mark stands 13th. His 200-fly time is just off his previous season-best mark (2:01.96), which is sixth in the conference. -
Connor Kinkema, Roanoke, So.
November 04, 2019Kinkema, a sophomore from Collinsville, Va., sped his way to a trio of individual wins and a helped Roanoke to a relay victory as the Maroons toppled Mary Washington, 162-100, in a dual meet. Kinkema, who set ODAC season top times in each event, won both the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke events in 0:58.31 and 2:06.36, respectively. He is the ODAC record-holder in both events. He also won the 400-yard individual medley in 4:16.72. Kinkema then swam the second leg on the Maroons' 400-yard medley relay team that posted a winning time of 3:32.59. -
Kimberly Large, Roanoke, Fy.
November 04, 2019Large, a first-year from Abingdon, Va., set a trio of ODAC top times in helping Roanoke defeat Mary Washington, 184-78, in a dual meet last week. Large won the 50-yard freestyle in 0:24.41 as well as the 100-yard freestyle in 0:53.12. She added a victory in the 100-yard butterfly in 0:57.73. Large then swam the anchor leg on the winning 400-yard medley relay team in 4:00.20. That time is also currently #1 in the conference. -
Ali MacQueen, Washington and Lee, Sr.
October 28, 2019MacQueen, a senior from Memphis, Tenn., put together a strong outing in Washington and Lee's 146-110 dual meet victory over Randolph-Macon. MacQueen won both events in which she competed, stopping the watches first in the 100-yard freestyle in 0:55.95 and the 200-yard butterfly in 2:12.45. Her 100-free time would rank fourth in the ODAC behind her previous season-best mark of 0:54.17. Her 200-fly time is currently second in the ODAC and ranks 31st in NCAA Division III. -
Steve Warren, Washington and Lee, So.
October 28, 2019Warren, a sophomore from Westfield, N.J., fueled the Generals to a 151-102 dual meet win at Randolph-Macon on Saturday with two individual wins and a relay win. Warren was victorious in the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke races with times of 1:00.1 and 2:18.07, respectively. He swam the second leg for the winning 200-yard medley relay that finished in 1:37.59. Warren's 200-breaststroke time would rank third in the ODAC behind his previous season-best mark (2:11.20) and that of Roanoke's Connor Kinkema (2:07.03). Warren's would be second if not for his own ODAC best mark of 0:59.45. -
Danny Lynch, Washington and Lee, Jr.
October 21, 2019Lynch, a junior from Richmond, Va., put his stamp on three new ODAC top individual times as Washington and Lee swept a tri-meet with Washington College (W, 185-66) and Centre College (W, 174-78). Lynch won both the 100-yard and 200-yard backstrokes with times of 0:52.53 and 1:55.52. He also claimed victory in the 200-yard individual medley in 1:57.91. Lynch and his teammates added a win in the 200-yard medley relay in 1:35.92. -
Emily Hageboeck, Washington and Lee, Sr.
October 21, 2019Hageboeck, a senior from Charleston, W.Va., cruised to three individual event victories including a pair of ODAC top times in the Generals tri-meet sweep of Washington College (200-55) and Centre College (179-88). Hageboeck set new ODAC season-best times by winning the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke events in 1:06.53 and 2:22.51, respectively. She also won the 200-yard individual medley in 2:12.58, which is second in the ODAC. Hageboeck also swam the second leg on the winning 200-yard medley relay team in 1:49.02. -
Caroline Baber, Washington and Lee, So.
October 14, 2019Baber, a sophomore from Richmond, Va., is off to a fast start in her second season in Lexington as she helped lead the Generals to a dual meet victory over Mary Washington and first place at the ODAC Relays over the weekend. Baber, last season's ODAC Women's Rookie of the Meet, won the 200-yard IM in 2:12.00 and finished second in the 50-yard freestyle in 0:25.29 as Washington and Lee topped UMW, 146-120, to give head coach Kami Gardner her 100th career dual meet victory. Baber also joined her teammates for a second place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:37.89. At the ODAC Relays, Baber contributed to five winning swims as she and her Generals' teammates won the 3x50 breaststroke (1:35.61), 3x50-yard butterfly (1:19.05), 200-yard freestyle (1:39.50), 400-yard freestyle (3:39.62), and 3x100-yard IM (3:05.79) relays. -
Patrick Sullivan, Washington and Lee, Jr.
October 14, 2019Sullivan, a junior from Pawleys Island, S.C., opened the 2019-20 season where he left off last year as the ODAC Men's Swimmer of the Year led the Generals to a 146.5-115.5 dual win over Mary Washington and participated in five winning relays to lead Washington and Lee to the top of the table at the ODAC Relays. Sullivan won the 100-yard, 200-yard, and 500-yard freestyle events at UMW, posting times of 0:47.22, 1:44.80, and 5:00.00. He also helped W&L win the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:11.27. At the ODAC Relays, Sullivan and his teammates won the 3x50-yard backstroke (1:13.99), 200-yard freestyle (1:27.10), 400-yard freestyle (3:13.21), 500-yard freestyle (4:19.32), and 200-yard medley (1:36.70) relays. -
Anis Yahi, Guilford, Sr.
October 07, 2019Yahi, a senior from Greensboro, N.C., picks up his first weekly honor after leading Greensboro to a tri-meet victory over William Peace and Ferrum College. Yahi won each of the six individual events in which he competed and contributed to a pair of Pride relay squads. Yahi posted victories in the 100-yard butterfly (0:56.78), 100-yard backstroke (0:59.04), 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.36), 50-yard (0:23.79) and 100-yard (0:51.83) freestyles, and the 200-yard individual medley (2:06.76). An All-ODAC Third Team swimmer last season, Yahi also helped Greensboro to second in the 200-yard freestyle (1:39.22) and 200-yard medley (1:52.82) relays. -
Carolyn O'Halloran, Guilford, Sr.
October 07, 2019O'Halloran, a senior from Summerfield, N.C., helped the Quakers finish second at the Guilford College Invitational with 266 points, trailing only UNC-Pembroke (572 pts.) and ahead of Hollins (262), William Peace (155), Sweet Briar (151), Ferrum (132), and Salem (55). O'Halloran completed in seven individual events and a pair of relays in a busy afternoon. She earned six indivdiual top-10 finishes. Included in that set was a third-place showing in the 100-yard freestyle (0:58.92), fourth in the 50-yard freestyle (0:27.01), fifth in the 100-yard butterfly (1:09.09) and 200-yard freestyle (2:20.31), seventh in the 200-yard individual medley (2:41.76), and 10th in the 100-yard backstroke (1:14.61). She chimed in 11th in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:27.44). O'Halloran helped finish third in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:55.71) and fourth in the 200-yard medley relay (2:11.15). -
Kevin Bennett, Lynchburg, Fy.
September 30, 2019Bennett, a first-year from Fredericksburg, Va., helped the Hornets win their first meet as a varsity program in a 104-85 decision at Randolph College. Bennett won a pair of events, placing first in the 100-yard backstroke in 0:57.16 and stopping the watches first in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:53.67. Both times would have ranked inside the ODAC's top-25 on the top-times list last season. Bennett also competed in the 200-yard medley relay, helping a second Lynchburg squad to second place in 1:45.44. -
Alyssa Reed, Lynchburg, Gr.
September 30, 2019Reed, a grad student from Forest, Va., helped Lynchburg open its first season as a varsity program with a resounding 129-30 victory at Randolph College over the weekend. Reed won the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:21.25, and also stopped the watches first in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:01.16. Her 100-fly time would have been inside the ODAC's top-15 a season ago, while her 200-IM mark is inside last year's top-25.
