  • VWU's Goldyn, Hull Earn NFCA's Top Two Awards to Lead Postseason Softball Honors

    Virginia Wesleyan University lefty Hanna Hull and catcher Jessica Goldyn added two more awards to their already overflowing stable of honors in 2021 as the Marlins battery was announced as the Schutt Sports/NFCA Pitcher and Player of the Year, respectively, by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) on Thursday.

    The No. 15 Emory & Henry College Softball Team (29-8) scored eight runs in the second inning on its way to a 12-0 victory against Cedar Crest College (21-5) Sunday afternoon in the Seguin Regional of the 2021 NCAA Division III Tournament. With the win, the Wasps advance for a rematch against the T-No. 2 Bulldogs of Texas Lutheran University in the Regional Championship.

With the 10-2 win over the Wasps, the Bulldogs advance to the NCAA Championship Tournament in Salem, Virginia next weekend.

Hanna Hull came in to the game in the bottom of the sixth and went to work earning a save en route to the Marlins 6-5 win over the Lions.

    The No. 2 Virginia Wesleyan softball team defeated the Rams of Farmingdale State College on Saturday morning in the 2021 NCAA Regional Tournament hosted at TowneBank Park in Virginia Beach, VA. Head Coach Brandon Elliott earned his 500th career coaching win with the 7-1 victory.

Karlee Fretz hit a 2 RBI single by to defeat the Lions of TCNJ in the bottom of the 8th inning winning 4-3!

    The T-No. 2 Texas Lutheran University Softball Team (31-4) scored twice in the second inning and held off multiple rallies by No. 15 Emory & Henry College (28-8) for a 5-0 win in the 2021 NCAA Division III Seguin Regional Saturday night.

    The No. 15 Emory & Henry College Softball Team (27-7) got the 2021 NCAA Division III Softball Tournament started with a 4-0 win over Bridgewater State College (17-10-1) Friday afternoon in the Seguin Regional. The Wasps are the #2 seed in the tournament while the Bears are the #5 seed.

    The NCAA announced the field for the upcoming Division III Softball Championship on Monday afternoon. Virginia Wesleyan University, owners of the ODAC's automatic bid to the 48-team tournament, will be joined by Emory & Henry College, which was selected at-large by the Division III Softball Committee.
  • Marlins Earn 14 Total Honors to Lead All-ODAC Softball Awards

    Five-time defending champion Virginia Wesleyan University collected 10 all-conference honors plus four special individual plaudits to headline the 2021 All-ODAC Softball Awards. Marlins catcher Jessica Goldyn earned ODAC Player of the Year laurels, while VWU lefty Hanna Hull garnered ODAC Pitcher of the Year recognition for the fourth time in as many chances. Marlins mentor Brandon Elliott picked up ODAC Coach of the Year honors from his peers, and VWU righty Emily Seale received ODAC Rookie of the Year distinction. University of Lynchburg shortstop Kayla Hugate was tabbed the ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete by the league's athletic communications personnel.

    Nationally second-ranked and top-seeded Virginia Wesleyan University defeated the University of Lynchburg twice on Sunday afternoon at TownBanke Park in Virginia Beach, winning game one, 4-0, and posting a 9-1 victory in six innings in game two to collect its fifth straight and league-best 13th overall ODAC softball crown.
  • VWU's Hull Sets NCAA Division III Wins Record

    Virginia Wesleyan lefty Hanna Hull became the NCAA Division III softball all-time wins leader with the Marlins victory over Shenandoah University in game one of their ODAC Tournament quarterfinal series on Saturday. Hull has now won 125 career games with presumably at least one more opportunity to increase that total as the Marlins move on thru the tournament.
